Actually, Jesus's blood was consumed by his followers. What about John 6:48-58? You literally have to eat Jesus's body and drink his blood to be "saved".
Well, at least I understand better why you don't believe the New Testament - You don't know how to read it.
Just like the blood of bulls and goats in the old testament sacrifice was a substitute for the guilty sinner, so also the bread and fruit of the vine is a substitute for the real body and blood given in sacrifice.
KJV Matthew 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
KJV Mark 14:22 And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.
Luke 22:14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.
15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
KJV 1 Corinthians 11:23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

This is addressed in Psalm 16:4 "Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips". Drinking blood is expressly forbidden in the Torah. It is a sin to even speak the name of another god.
And now I know why you don't understand the connections between the covenants. You don't know how to read the Old Testament either.
David is talking about his contemporaries. There is no way David could drink unlawful offerings with Saints many generations after he is dead and buried.
