Do you remember that Gene Autry got fan mail from 8, 9, 10 year old boys threatening to never come to another one of his movies if his kissed a woman? I don't recall that he ever did...not in any of his movies I ever saw, anyway.
By the way, in the REAL good old days (when I was a kid) families would all gather around and listen to the radio...we
didn't know about TV. In fact, my dad was a very intelligent man, but when TV first came into being, he said, "It'll never
last...too expensive...people can't afford it! LOL

We had TV, but I have listened to several of the old radio programs. The Lone Ranger, The Shadow.
"Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The shadow knows." Remember that?
Then there was Sky King, Lassie, plus the comedies like Jack Benny, Red Skelton etc. The radio shows were neat because of the sound effects that aided the listener's imagination...like the sound of a closing door or footsteps or a car's engine starting up.
WMBI out of Chicago had a drama series called "Unshackled" which told the stories of some of the people who were brought into faith in God through the Pacific Gospel Mission. Those programs were done very well too. We lost something when those radio shows were replaced.

I actually met him as a child. My Mom knew a lady who owned two Leer Jets. The lady loaned one to Bob Hope when he performed here. She invited us out to the little private airport to meet him. I am not big on celebritys but that was pretty cool.
