FINALLY! Despite being surrounded by fervent aficionados of the stuff for a very long time, I never really knew the origin of the term "420" regarding cannabis. Funny how urban stories get t***sformed into a kind of semaphore for an idea without necessarily carrying forth the original story!

For those of you completely in the dark, the term "420" or "4/20" has long been a reference to cannabis culture and the partaking in one form or another of "weed".

You are from California and didn't know that? Even in the hinterlands of GA and NM that is common knowledge. I thought cannabis was the state plant or something.

That is interesting but totally foreign to me. Perhaps that is because I have never associated with pot smokers nor used it myself.

Oh I knew all about the use of the term "420", but I never knew it's origin nor its connection to the kids in San Rafael.

And being a significant cash crop, if not the largest, it probably should be the state plant. I mean, our flower is a poppy after all! Fortunately our poppy contains a different class of alkaloids than the poppy used to make opium.

A local dispensary is giving away free samples today of edibles...perhaps I should make a visit.

When i was at a-school in meridian ms, a fleet sailor had come to school (i went to a-school after boot) anyway the fleet guy was just basically a hippie at heart. He found some pot in town and used to smoke it in the head with the shower steam on. He smoked himself out the Navy. Kind of an embarrasing way to get out but he was a likeable guy and we all thought it was funny. I think they gave him an OTH

My sympathies. To you, for having to spend more than 5 minutes in Meridian MS. If they were going to give the world an enema, Meridian would be a likely place to insert the tube, in the event that something prevented DC from being the site.

Brother you arent kiddin. Believe me we tried one weekend in the "big city" of jackson, and after that me and a few others spent our following weekends in glorious Houstan Texas. Yea it was a drive but hell it was better than stayin in that dump. Did i mention i did my time there in the dead of summer. No wonder the hippie wanted out. If youve never been to the bowels of summer misery plan a vacation in meridian in july

Good lord i had it easy in boot i was in orlando in march and it was navy boot camp at the time when some genious up top decided itd be a good idea to integrate male and females in same companys. Needless to say boot camp was a huge disappoinment in the ass kicking by company commanders which on the few times they cycled us it was kinda fun.

We only had 8 women in the company. Our first week, we had I think it was 9 guys fall out of the PT runs from heat exhaustion. (The women didn't have to run with us ). We didn't just run in morning PT. Every member of the cadre was a 'Nam vet, and most were Airborne. They made us run in place while we stood in line for chow at the mess hall. (Sometimes Jumping jacks, aka "side straddle hops" for variety ). We ran EVERYWHERE. We did so much double time I dunno why they bothered to teach us marching.
