I can relate to that. I was finally able to forgive my son, after considerable soul searching, for enlisting in the Navy rather than my beloved Corps. Inasmuch as both are classified as 'Naval Service', I was able to do so. While I only served for 3 years, he served for 30. I have often wondered if that was because he wondered if it would take 30 years to equal my 3 years.

Oh that Florida hot spot? I was going to re-up after Hawaii and that was my choice in duty station to t***sfer to. They wanted to put me back on a Greyhound, those rat bastages and so, I got out instead.

The fact is, if you ever give a sailor that much shore leave, it's near impossible to get them floating ever again. On water anyway.

Just doing the math here, I did four active son did eight plus.

You did three, your son thirty...

There's a pattern here, I just know it.

Now Airmen, they allow those folks to come and go as they dang well please. They are a branch of the military, right?

We all can't be Navy amigo, we have to let the others feel important too!

Indeed. The 'others' feel they are an important element, so we must make allowances for them, even if we don't understand what component they may be in the scheme of things.
