Of course, speaking from observations of the other side of that coin, I was quite sorry I didn't pay attention about the typhoon that was coming, bending in the walls of the house I lived in and quite thankful later on down the road to know in advance that those hurricanes I was going to have to hunker down in were coming and prepared accordingly. Yes, these things do cause panic in the streets, but frankly I'd rather know what's coming....

yes the information is great, but the misuse that is going on is fraud

Are you referencing "C*****e C****e" theory per se or the fact that the media uses everything surrounding natural events merely to raise their ratings, and not provide factual substance?

I am referring to the fraud that Gore and his ilk are perpetuating on this country

Ahhhh, I see. I am still trying to make up my mind where the t***h lies. Perhaps, it is somewhere in between. Perhaps, we are experiencing a "normal" cycle of c*****e c****e, but the possibility of what all that might entail makes me uneasy.

I think every structure on this farm still standing has sections of the kind of wood you describe!! Don't laugh....yeah, go ahead....but I once used a cattle prod to discourage a raccoon instead of the firearm I had in my other hand because I was afraid the bullets might ricochet off that unreasonably tough wood the barn was built with!!

Heh, I doubt a 22 would have a chance against that stuff and I ain't bettin' my eyesight to test it either! Bang.... Zingggg! :)

So how come that stuff lasts longer than we do yet when you go and build a deck or something that stuff if falling apart in 5 years. Must be that we're building with "young pine" or wh**ever now days? Always wondered about that. *shrug*

It's actually a 'chore' today (I know, what a bad problem to have) since I just put a new smoker together and now I have to season it before I can cook. Won't be eating til 20:00 or so :(

Higher quality merchandise back then compared to knock off garbage they use now..If it was wood, it was real wood, not this pressed together garbage everything is made of anymore??? Just sayen~

Also people took p***e in the product being put out. Now, not so.....Mass production to satisfy demand and to hell with quality workmanship in most everything...Also its not USA made, it's China, Japan, Indonesia, etc....

Not much. Here in my neck of Saint Louis, we are overcast and humid. Still standing water in the yard. National weather service shows Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota getting the brunt of it right now.

I must say I am not enthused about the temps. Kinda muggy, actually. I mean, I want a proper spring with a good month of 60's before the heat comes in. I was gonna complain about the bad, humid summers we get sometimes here but, seein' how your in Florida, I doubt you would be sympathetic.

Quite a puzzle, that one. "Maybe" since everyone back then tended to have DIY lumber mills, that made the difference, but unfortunately, for us, some of the wood they used was not that same sturdy stuff. The house is a balloon construction design, which for anyone not familiar with it, t***slates to the outside walls not sitting on the floor, but on supporting wood "next" to the floors. We discovered the hard way that the supporting wood pieces were much softer and therefore much tastier to termites!! There are two commercial jacks underneath the house now that more than likely will just stay there!! Sigh.
