Sad thing... kids now turn their parents in for looking at them crossed eyed. Imagine is a parent try to correct a kid.... prison? So sad.... when I was a child, I did not fear my parents, but I sure had a healthy respect of their authority.

I have to agree with you Ms. Penny It's like what my Dad used to quote from the Bible.."bring up a child in the way that they will go, and when they are old they shall not depart" He would say "see it say's nothing about in between, God knows teens and young adults will experiment and /or live like the devil."

Thanks.... I never did sleep well, but after my husband passed away.... I guess I miss his snoring. It just seems that nights are too quite and much too long. I will give the milk a try..... will it work with soy milk? As a kid they discovered that I can not break down the protein in meat and milk....

Thank you so very much!!!

I got just the cure for those sleepless nights.
Now I know this may sound old fashion, but it does work.

A half glass full of warm milk works very well. I had it given to me when I was a little fella, and I did the same for my children. and now that I am an old fart it still works very well. I never have acid reflux. And sleep like a baby.
Hope this helps.

My Papa never raised his voice, never hit me, never scolded me. He would talk to me. Now when I walked into the room for one of these conversations, I was normal in all respects. And he would start with "Do you know why you and I are talking?" And I could feel myself getting shorter. Then he would explain why..... and again I could feel myself getting shorter....by the time the talk was over... I felt so small that I could walk under a dust mite and not come close to hitting my head. Now Mother.... ohh that woman could use a strap and hit me around corners. I do not know how she did it, but I could not run fast enough.....and if I did run, well that earned an extra smack on my behind with that strap.

And the t***h. I absolutely loved both my parents and my grands (they lived with us, and they had authority over me). Discipline was expected and used to teach.

How about if I send you a recording of my snoring. that should do the trick?

I don't think soy milk would work, but goat's milk probably would and most people who can't digest cow's milk can handle goat's milk just fine.

I grew up in a very old world household. One set of Grandparents lived next door. One Grandmother lived with us. I must have heard the words: "We do not behave in such a manner" at least a thousand times. I don't remember a time I ever willfully disobeyed my parents. I trusted them to know what was best. I could talk with them about anything.

I never feared my parents but I respected them. They earned my respect. There was much laughter and joy in our house. I knew what was expected of me and I did not want to disappoint. Of course I did from time to time. This was met with swift corrections. They did not see themselves as my friends but as my parents.

Maybe it is just the fast pace of modern life but parents do not seem to give their children direction anymore. My daughter always has time for her children even after her husband passed away and she was the only bread winner.

So many young people today are left to their own devises. Weather it is for economic reasons or just to have the big house and two SUVs. They are reared by video games, TV, movies, and music.

My Grandchildren have friends who have been reared to show respect for other human beings. There are many good, hard working, and loving young people. I have hope for the future. They face problems my generation never dreamed of. I see in these young people a better America. They just do not get the press the troublemakers get.

Yes....send the recording.... my husband was an epic snorer! Funny the things one misses, like he used to put away ice cream containers with only a spoonful left. I asked him why, he said it was because he felt guilty when he took the last spoonful. And he always squooze (if that is right... never could figure out the past tense of squeeze) the tooth paste in the middle..... used to aggravate me, I squeeze from the bottom always. And here is the other strange one.... when he put the silver away, he did not separate desert spoons from teaspoons.

Why didn't he just EAT the last spoonful? Silverware must be separated, didn't he know that? Otherwise the large spoons will breed to the small spoons and will have middle size spoons and no one would be able to figure out what to use them for.

He turned and stormed out of the building.

This got all of the folks attention. And in a short time things were back to normal.
( I emphasize the word normal ) Having to wait I believed for ½ hour, I started to notice
Some things. Most people were just waiting as I. And as I started to look around, what cot my eye more than anything was the young folks there. Most males were in huddies, and the girls were in clothes you would have believed, to have not seen a washing for about a month. Smelled that way as well. One of the young fellows almost lost his pants, so he pulled them all the way up to his lower hips. Several of the young girls were only warring socks, no shoes. And one young couple might as well had a bed with them, for they were kissing each other most of the time I was there.

I must have looked funny, for I know my mouth fell opened. When I realized it, I closed it with a snap, and I heard a chuckle.
I’m good on that, after all I am 80.
But I could not help to think, what the hell has happened to our youth. What were there parents doing when they were growing up.

For a long time believed that most parents wanted the very best for there children.
I don’t believe that is true any longer.

For what I have witnessed over the last decade or so tells me I am correct. And it is truly sad to see. For these young folks are doomed to fail there whole life. They will never know the freedom of independence.
They will never know the true beauty of the world they live on. And most will never know the love that god has for them.

All because there parents did not care enough for them, to teach them right from wrong. Dam it all to hell, some people are just rotten to the core.

So I came back to my home a little sad.
I will remember this day, for a long time.

I will also remember that but for the grace of God go I.

You mention GOD in your post, but fail to mention it was our (and I include myself) generation who let politicians, anti-christian, and anti-American groups take GOD out of our schools. They also took the pledge of allegiance and everything else we hold dear. We are now allowing Hollywood and the music industry raise our greatest natural resource...Our children.. I pray that GOD will forgive us...

It isn't the days when my Mother not only made sure you were dressed before going into public. She made sure you had put on fresh clean underware with the warning you could be in an accident! I see people out in town looking worse than I would dress for forking cow poop. Thier dress seems to reflect thier attitude about life, now I wonder how we got Obama!!

RETW, I have three grown children who have good jobs, they are respectfull and are doing good with their lives. Sorry you had a bad day with the younger group. There are still some bright and educated young people out there that will lead this country in the right direction. They are gonna need some help as this country has gone down hill for some time. You try and raise, educate and help your children to become good person possible. Don't give up there is still hope. GOD bless the USA
