What an eye opener!

Because of my age, cupuled with the fact I had an accident a while back. I was asked by the Department of Motor Vehicles, to take a complete driving test. Questions. Eye exam, driving sk**ls. Past by the way.
But while I was in there waiting my turn, what I witnessed was to say the least shocking. Just after I arrived a young fellow…. Around 20.… presented himself to the information officer. After about a minuet or so, I heard words to the effect,( you bastards, your all full of s**t you SOBs).
He turned and stormed out of the building.

This got all of the folks attention. And in a short time things were back to normal.
( I emphasize the word normal ) Having to wait I believed for ½ hour, I started to notice
Some things. Most people were just waiting as I. And as I started to look around, what cot my eye more than anything was the young folks there. Most males were in huddies, and the girls were in clothes you would have believed, to have not seen a washing for about a month. Smelled that way as well. One of the young fellows almost lost his pants, so he pulled them all the way up to his lower hips. Several of the young girls were only warring socks, no shoes. And one young couple might as well had a bed with them, for they were kissing each other most of the time I was there.

I must have looked funny, for I know my mouth fell opened. When I realized it, I closed it with a snap, and I heard a chuckle.
I’m good on that, after all I am 80.
But I could not help to think, what the hell has happened to our youth. What were there parents doing when they were growing up.

For a long time believed that most parents wanted the very best for there children.
I don’t believe that is true any longer.

For what I have witnessed over the last decade or so tells me I am correct. And it is truly sad to see. For these young folks are doomed to fail there whole life. They will never know the freedom of independence.
They will never know the true beauty of the world they live on. And most will never know the love that god has for them.

All because there parents did not care enough for them, to teach them right from wrong. Dam it all to hell, some people are just rotten to the core.

So I came back to my home a little sad.
I will remember this day, for a long time.

I will also remember that but for the grace of God go I.

First..... allow me to congratulate you on doing well on the eye exam. The rest, well was there ever a doubt that you would easily pass? The eye exam... now that can be a tricky beast. Especially when they simulate night driving (they do that here in Va).. Now the more important thing. Do not think what you saw is in anyway associated with your generation. It is indeed sad, but you did not raise your children that way and hopefully your grandchildren have not departed from the correct way. If that is true for your children and grandchildren, then there are others who still take p***e in their dress and the way they conduct themselves.

Thank you Pennylynn, I greatly appreciate those kind words. And yes all my grandchildren have been brought up with the same sure handed discipline that was given to there parents. So I am blessed with that knowledge. But it sure breaks my heart to see some one so young in life and the whole world in front of them, knowing they are doomed to a life of very low expectations and want.
You have a very good night will you.

Good article, I am nearing 77 so I relate with you. For the past 30-40 yrs I've noticed that the youth are being taught in school that they are entitled to what their parents have & they should expect an inheritance when parents pass on...It seems sometimes that some of my children take this to heart & seem to be waiting 'til I die to get their inheritance to move on. I seem to be doing a pretty good job of spending their inheritance as I don't think there will be much left for them LOL...I didn't inherit much when my parents died nor did I expect anything, I would have preferred they stuck around!

Thank you.... I am having a sleepless night, so I decided to spend some time here. I am not quite your age, but each generation sees the next as broken. But, always in every generation....the kids grow out of the stupid phases. And they move on to use their intelligence. There is hope. Hang in there!!!

Yep, I'll hit double 7's myself. Our younger generation, for the most part, seem to have 'TGE world owes me a living'attitude. Sad.

I got just the cure for those sleepless nights.
Now I know this may sound old fashion, but it does work.

A half glass full of warm milk works very well. I had it given to me when I was a little fella, and I did the same for my children. and now that I am an old fart it still works very well. I never have acid reflux. And sleep like a baby.
Hope this helps.

RETW,
I soak an oatmeal cookie or 4 in my milk. Puts a little something in my stomach and oats are good for us, they say.

"An oatmeal cookie or 4 in my milk?", Gotta love it!

BTW, I agree with the sentiments of both Pennylynn posts.

You think the "hoodied" American Welfare babies are a mess, CM, just wait 'til the scads of Middle Eastern "muzzie" kids currently popping out of all the Muslim wives and concubines start growing up in America on food-stamps and Welfare. At least the American Welfare babies were limited to just a few per concubine and occasional wife.

What you need to do is get a driving license in Arizona, they don't expire for eighteen years and you can be damn near blind and pass the test. Unless you mow down some kids or crash through the front of a liquor store or nursery school you can drive until you are 98 years old if you make it that long.

I have to agree with you Ms. Penny It's like what my Dad used to quote from the Bible.."bring up a child in the way that they will go, and when they are old they shall not depart" He would say "see it say's nothing about in between, God knows teens and young adults will experiment and /or live like the devil."

You are right, most of the kids do grow up, but more and more I am seeing people in their thirties dress and behave like 16 year olds. Way too many have neither a sense of p***e nor of shame. Both are necessary in my (not so humble) opinion.

So very true. Thank you..... I remember back in the day, we had a woman who was stuck in the 50s, and she grew old in an ugly way, but she would walk down the street snapping her fingers to a beat she alone could hear. She was harmless with one exception.... my mother used her as the ultimate scare tactic... if you do not do your homework.... you are going to wind up like Maude with a friend egg on your forehead! I am now in my 60s, each morning I check to make sure I can remember who I am and then I check for the fried egg on my forehead!!
