Not going to argue but think that may be wrong. Chrysler used a different way to produce electrical power than Ford or GM, one used a generator and the others used an alternator.

It would depend on the year. I'm referring to about 60 years ago. This includes fuel pumps. At any rate, I do recall someone repairing an auto was able to simply buy a generator or alternator as, regardless of the producer, they were interchangeable. I do recall a repairman stating that, at one time one needed only to ask for a particular part by its generic name. I also recall that spark plugs were all alike with the exception of those on foreign cars. One purchased them by manufacturer name because one was better than another but, physically, they were still all spark plugs. I might be wrong but this is what I recall from my past experience. I only changed spark plugs once and adjusted the timing but that was on a Mercedes.

Thought you might be interested in my last experience with a used car dealer. I was interested in one auto and asked the price. It should be known that I was used to seeing cars on a lot with prices already posted on them.

As I said, I asked the price on a particular automobile and, instead of stating a price, he asked me how much I could afford to pay monthly. I had spoken with another of his customers (a young couple who were paying $300/mo.) At any rate, the dealer(?) as I said, the dealer, instead of quoting a price, asked if I could afford $300/mo. The light bulb lit over my head. Why was he quoting that same amount?

I asked him again for the price of the car but he continued with the monthly payment thingy. Fortunately, I'm no longer a teen and I told him that it was up to me to decide if I could afford the car as he could arrange a contract and create any price so that I would end up paying $300/mo. I told him I was not pleased with the way he did business and walked out. I'm sorry about that incident because I really did like that auto.

Although I don't look my age, I definitely do appear as a senior citizen and resent the insult to my thinking ability. I'm sure he's screwed many people with his sales technique - but not this lady.     (lots of eyelashes)

Thanks for the blessing. I like your cartoon. I haven't been back to another dealer but, before I even speak to any, I will look for the price signs on the windows of the cars. If they're not there, I'll let the salesperson know why I'm leaving.

It might be fun or perhaps, he has the same philosophy P.T. Barnum stated - "one born every minute."
