I have no wish to "go on and on", especially with a "Yankee". Your belief that utilizing correct word usage is "childish" is endemic of some of our populace. You wonder, "How can they not understand what I meant?" It is not understood because individuals fail to understand the definitions of the words they use as they attempt to communicate.

I find both sides to make abysmally bad choices repetitively. They fail to listen to anything, on either side, not meeting the "in" philosophy/policy. The people making decisions are clueless as to realities. One has to imagine what policies and practices would be if the real people doing the real jobs were asked their opinion based on their real working knowledge. An example would be the Department of Education (or uneducation [neologism] considering our world standing, #25). Nary an individual employed has any current direct knowledge of classrooms, etc., yet they issue edicts to states that create nothing but additional administrative demands; however, provide no improvement in education at the classroom level. There are certainly more examples; however, there would be insufficient space available.
