Yes you are absolutely right. The problem Riley is getting the state's to support public education. Since the conservatives want to let education return to state control and not the Fed.Gov't DeptEd. Then the "ball would be in their court" so to speak.

Yes a change is needed. We need to return standards to the levels we had when in public school. There are good dedicated teachers who are liberals as well as conservatives. There are those educators who will bring back standards in public school if they get the support from the state. If and when the Dep'tEd is disbanded will the states get behind public education and support the educators who want to bring up standards?

Let me use one of your cults favorite words.

It is up to the stakeholders (utterly stupid use of the word) to push bringing back the necessity of focusing on core subjects. Those stakeholders are the parents. It is not the educators decision on subject matter, it is their job to teach.

Let me toss this out. Part of their ball should be a very deep and serious cut in administration. Every bloody time funding is increased, it rarely makes it to classrooms. It ends up hiring more administrators to get in the way.

Anecdotal evidence would be my county. The budget went up. The (count this) county’s five Deputy Superintendents hired five a
Assistant Deputy Superintendents along with administrative staff for those five new positions. Nary a bloody nickel went to classrooms.

Interestingly enough, 35% of our county teachers have their children in private schools and our county is highly ranked in education.

Did a little research. Some world indexes rank it number one. Some rank the Scandinavian countries higher and some rank Japan high.

But the bottom line is not how well we score but how well it serves to create a cohesive nation.

Yes.

Japan is not doing well in that regard if birth rates are in the equation.

It is not only Japan. There are multiple countries with birth rate issues, including the United States. I may be wrong; however, somewhere I think I saw that China is having a birth rate issues as well.

China is. Nigeria is currently leading the world and my world religions research today listed them as high.

We had two, not enough for growth and far behind Nigeria’s 6 point something.

Former President Donald Trump is actively promoting his agenda in anticipation of a potential second term, causing ripples in the political landscape.
In a recent address in Nashville, Tennessee, Trump announced his intention to dismantle the Department of Education, garnering significant support and applause from the crowd.
This declaration was made during his keynote speech at the 2024 National Religious Broadcasters’ International Christian Media Convention.
Trump has reiterated his plan to effectively eliminate the agency established by President Jimmy Carter in 1979 on previous occasions.
Trump openly expressed his strong desire to eliminate the DOE, a move supported by many conservatives who view it as a misuse of taxpayer money that fails to benefit students and is often overly politicized.
“We’re going to end the so-called Department of Education. We might have one desk, one person, just to make sure everyone is speaking English,” Trump said during his keynote speech.

Nashville Scene noted:
He pledged to “support a policy of universal school choice” and promised to grant “529 education savings accounts to be used for homeschooling expenses up to $10,000 a year, per child, completely tax-free,” as well as reiterating conservative calls to shut down the U.S. Department of Education.
“With your prayers, your voice and your v**e, we will reclaim our government from these horrible tyrants,” Trump told the audience, adding that he will “restore faith and family to the center of American life” and saying that “the great revival of America begins on Nov. 5, 2024.”
The former Secretary of Education under Trump has openly stated that she believes the Department of Education should not exist. This view garnered widespread support on social media when Trump announced his plans to abolish the agency.
“Education should be controlled by the states,” one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, “We have the second worst president (I’ll never lie to ya) the peanut farmer from Georgia to thank for the Dept of Education, the EPA and a couple more.”
“Finally! Also get rid of Agriculture, Energy, HUD, EPA, HHS, and Labor. Anything useful they do would be better done by states or private organizations,” another social media user wrote.

The Education department is being abused and needs to go. Let the schools run their own schools
and the federal government stays far away.

So a different indoctrination can occur.

If education was run correctly, indoctrination would be minimal as students would be pursuing core courses, language arts (reading, writing, grammar), mathematics and science. Extraneous education would not be presented until high school.
