Quid Pro Quo, Lasher: You make me feel old. When I was in undergraduate school, I had elective hours to fulfill and I took them all in History, starting with Early Civilization, as I found the subject interesting. Now I suppose the liberal faculty offer Rules for Radicals. Sure am glad I got my education before the liberal socialist got an iron grip on our universities. God help us if the kids getting educated today do not develop a mind of their own, but are just indoctrinated socialist drones.

What they are teaching today is pure propaganda for the coming NWO. This is the t***h: they teach that Cleopatra, Hannibal and Beethoven, among many others, were black; that Holland was building colonies in Africa and importing black s***es in the 18th Century, and some of those s***es were Beethoven's ancestors. They tell them that Eldrich Cleaver was a great black writer equivalent to Dickens or Dostoievsky. They teach that b****s once had wings, and used them to build the Pyramids. I am not joking, this is the kind of crap the sociologists are teaching kids in schools. They also tell them that most things, like air conditioning, elevators, etc. were invented by b****s.

Well, some history is being taught. How am I so sure? Consider the situation when a mind-numbed college student refers to Rush Limbaugh as a N**i and a right wing i***t. The trouble is N**i means "National Socialist". Democrats, not Republicans are typically socialists.

Every student in a liberal environment knows Obama and his merry band of liberal twits are working hard to get recent grads a job. The part that is conveniently skipped over is this group has seen their real earnings drop some $3200 since 2000. Obama says he is going to give grads a job, but fails to mention it is the private sector that supplies gainful employment. Obama is bringing America "hope and change" for the future, but it is omitted that hope and change for the future comes within a person, not the federal government.

Young students are eager to see if Air Force One is now pulled around the world by eight tiny reindeer.

Current events class, I'm sure, discusses Justin Bieber, the Yankees and what is on at the local movie house. News? Oh yeah! The big news is Mickey in 4th hour Art has a bit zit on his forehead!

You can always tell the honor students - they can make change for a dollar, read an analog clock and can pick out Canada on a map. The only thing keeping our students from becoming little Einsteins is the lack of adequate funding for teachers, additional time off and reducing class size to 12 students.

Cynical? You bet!

I think as a one time high school American History teacher that what has happened came about because progressives got control of the schools through NEA and congressional money that was offered as carrot and stick crap to school districts.

rumitoid; you have more support here than you might think. Don't give way to apathy, or allow yourself to be shouted down by anyone who may throw dirt at you. And there will be more of that, believe me. Your opinions are valid, and you have as much right to be heard as anyone else, my friend.

Stay strong, be well!

Agreed.

Today's students aren't taught critical thinking, but rather handed revisionist history as if it's gospel. One of the best teachers I ever had used to play devil's advocate at times just to see if he could goad you into a discussion. Of course, I just couldn't resist temptation and would take the bait.

At the end of one of our exchanges, he said he wanted to point out a few things:
*"I don't agree with everything you said, but you did make some very good points."
**"More importantly, I have you thinking."
***"Did you happen to see how many other people jumped in the fray whether it was for your side or mine?"
"I didn't see anyone."
"Exactly. That's the problem. People have their own opinions about a topic, but just sit there and say nothing. That's why we have so many problems today. You're one in a million."

I left that class learning it is perfectly all right to stand up for what you believe is right. I believe many of today's students aren't getting this kind of opportunity to think for themselves - and it shows.

Quid Pro Quo, Not-a-RINO: I had a similar experience in under graduate school. I had a required 3 hr English Composition class with 90 + students in it. A young woman teacher told us that before she could teach us to write, she first had to teach us to think. One of her examples she used was that humans think in the past, present, and future. But she said animals can only think it the present. I had an inquisitive mind, and really didn't think that was true, so I raised my hand and when she called on me, I asked her: "Why does a dog bury a bone if he doesn't plan on coming back to get it." The whole class just roared, and the teacher turned red in the face and said: "Well more people believe as I do than believe as you do." I wasn't trying to be funny, I had a serious question in my mind. But she taught me a valuable lesson, after that I never raised my hand again in her class.

Ask someone under the age of 30 what a N**i is and they usually say "They just wanted to k**l Jews." That is their most salient thought on the subject.
