I can remember as a kid in the 50’s every thing shut down on Sunday.

Then slowly things started to stay open, a few drug stores in town, then small farm markets and verity stores and gradually wide open commerce.

Yeah, I remember that too. If you wanted beer for the Sunday game, you had to do algebra to figure out how much was to be needed.
