Watching the news earlier, the response to the devastating fires here makes my heart sing with joy!! The outpouring of help, and support from everywhere here, from churches, businesses, individuals, and our amazing governor brings a tear to my eye.
The stories are tragic, and heroic at the same time. There was a volunteer firefighter in the little town of Stinnett who drove past his own burning house so he could try to save his neighbors homes. The pilots filling their planes up on lakes to fight the fires. The veterinarians who have showed up to help with injured pets, and livestock. The people who have opened their homes, and offered pasture, and care for displaced, and injured animals. The farmers, ranchers, and truck drivers from all over the state donating their time, and money to get feed up here for the livestock that survived. Texans helping Texans.
The only mention I heard of the Federal Government was a USDA dude meeting with producers telling them what their options for assistance are. No FEMA, no nothing. Not a word on the National News about ANY of it.
It's Texas, and, a highly conservative area, so, why mention it, or offer assistance?

Not that it's wanted, or asked for.
It just sticks out to me that a tragedy of this magnitude is mostly ignored by the benevolent left.
It's ok. We don't need you!

I just searched for "Texas relief efforts" and there was directions to apply for aid from FEMA.
There is nothing worse than a fire. Hopefully they just got or going to get some rain.

They were within 20 miles at first, but, they have burned away from us now.

I would think that with a disaster of this magnitude, Washington DC would at least acknowledge it instead of making already stressed, traumatized, and lost people attempt to navigate it on their own.

But, it's Texas, and Oklahoma.
We'll handle it.
We don't need your precious tax money. Wetbacks, and other countries need them worse.

Why complain , if you got what you wanted ?
You boxed yourselves into a corner , which made you unable to ask for help .
The people you continuously rale against were unable to offer any help . Without first being asked .

The week of being nice isn't over yet so I'll simply say "What a crock".

Something nobody has addressed. As I was riding around Tennessee this morning, seeing the cows still okay here and in other states. I thought Texas cows were k**led, a tragedy. However, wouldn't that raise the value of other cows?
