Watching the news earlier, the response to the devastating fires here makes my heart sing with joy!! The outpouring of help, and support from everywhere here, from churches, businesses, individuals, and our amazing governor brings a tear to my eye.
The stories are tragic, and heroic at the same time. There was a volunteer firefighter in the little town of Stinnett who drove past his own burning house so he could try to save his neighbors homes. The pilots filling their planes up on lakes to fight the fires. The veterinarians who have showed up to help with injured pets, and livestock. The people who have opened their homes, and offered pasture, and care for displaced, and injured animals. The farmers, ranchers, and truck drivers from all over the state donating their time, and money to get feed up here for the livestock that survived. Texans helping Texans.
The only mention I heard of the Federal Government was a USDA dude meeting with producers telling them what their options for assistance are. No FEMA, no nothing. Not a word on the National News about ANY of it.
It's Texas, and, a highly conservative area, so, why mention it, or offer assistance?

Not that it's wanted, or asked for.
It just sticks out to me that a tragedy of this magnitude is mostly ignored by the benevolent left.
It's ok. We don't need you!

Why complain , if you got what you wanted ?
You boxed yourselves into a corner , which made you unable to ask for help .
The people you continuously rale against were unable to offer any help . Without first being asked .

They’re only using it to rant about the g****l w*****g crap. I lived in a small town called Ramona Southern California when the huge fire swept across our town. Many times I broke down in tears seeing the devastation. We did not evacuate because our house was never threatened so I spent days going around feeding animals that were wondering the streets. The l**ting was also a big problem

Me and one of my neighbors would drive around at night looking for the pos that was l**ting. We had several guns at the ready. My plan was to bury them in the back yard because you know they told no one where they were going and what they were doing.

I was wondering why we'd not heard about anything since. I was watching the daily weather reports praying for rain but heard nothing. I don't know how the fires were stopped yet.

Isn't it comforting though that after a range fire like this one that spring rains and ash turned to fertilizer restores the range to be even more beautiful and productive?

Around here I wish it would stop raining. At least 2" of rain a week for I don't know how long. Everything is mud!

Now that makes me angry that this tragedy is dropped from the national news as no longer noteworthy.
