The shell game continues. I am all for relieving taxes on the middle class, but, I do not trust Obama to do a true tax reform, nor the congress. You could tax the wealthy at 100%, and it wouldn't solve the problem of government spending. Obama's legacy is one of failure after failure. You can't get past the run up in the debt of the US....Obama just kicks the can down the road. Now, it has happened under all presidents, but, Obama takes the blue ribbon for digging the hole deeper. It's not the wars, or the defense budget that is straining the economy. It is the onerous, incomprehensible regulation on business, commerce and the people. Base line budgeting is the smoke that the Dems use to villify the right as to "cuts" in government. If a program is scheduled for a 4% increase, and calls are for "only" a 3% increase, that is considered a "Cut"....It's not a cut! A cut would be -%. Keeping the programs with no increase would balance the budget in 5 years.
Eliminate the IRS. Go to a flat tax, fair tax or national sales tax.
People say the defense budget is to large. Hmmm...It's about 7% GDP.
In WWII, it was 20%. Rather than cutting defense, I say, pay these people more. They are a volunteer force. I can't think of a better social program. The reason why we have spent more for defense per GDP than all the other western countries is that we have protected them so they don't have to spend as much on defense. We had their back and their alliance. Obama has ruined that. There is a price to be paid for peace. A strong America is vital to this peace, and deterrence. Make no mistake, the world is not a calm political atmosphere....Better to be strong than weak.
Domestically? What has Obama accomplished? Lie after lie..That will be his legacy.
The shell game continues. I am all for relieving t... (show quote)

It will be raise taxes on the "rich" now, tax breaks for the middle class to be worked out later (if at all) that will only benefit some. This is nothing more than a ploy to put the GOP on the spot and the end result will hurt the economy.

President Obama will use his State of the Union address on Tuesday to call on Congress to raise taxes and fees on the wealthiest taxpayers and the largest financial firms to finance tax cuts for the middle class, administration officials said on Saturday.
The proposal — which will also push to reshape the tax code to help working families and raise $320 billion over the next decade — faces long odds in the Republican-controlled Congress, led by lawmakers who have long opposed raising taxes and who argue that doing so would hamper economic growth.
But the decision to present the plan signifies the start of a debate over taxes and the economy that will shape both Mr. Obama’s legacy and the 2016 p**********l campaign.

This is a shame. Everytime the democraps say they are working to reduce the taxes on middle class, they end up taking more. Their "tax relief" for the middle class has knocked most "middle class" into the upper lower class of Americans.

Well those dolls you buy for your practice on will have an increase of pricing for starters. You don't want THAT now do you? And as connected as everything else actually is on the economy, (a subject some warp out incest infected dung pile like you have no idea about) it will create more problems.

Tax the rich, so they will move their homes and businesses elsewhere. What a stupid plan by a homo MuslimMonkey in office.

I don't think Obama is going to do any favors for the middle class. He just knows that if they are to have enough money to fund next years ACA increase, they will need a little help.

Boy am I EXCITED!

$320 billion divided by 10 years is $32 billion per year divided by 61.285 million family households in the US equals $522 per household per year equals $44 per household per month.

I wonder where we’ll spend our “gigantic” windfall instead of leaving that money with the greedy rich bastards to grow the economy?

He's pretty smart about it, knowing it'll never fly through Congress. Now if Congress makes a middle class tax cut proposal, he is going to claim credit. The Obama tax cuts.

It wont even match 44 dollars. I think you are betting on a higher number of actual working people, than there really are. We have the highest unemployment rate under this regime, than under any other previous LEGITIMATE. Less people working, so a reduction in taxes wont matter to them. Less taxes on NO income still equals NOTHING.

Its all eye wash to fool the sheeple into thinking that he cares about them. The only ones to believe him are the ones receiving total government aid, and the pressitute media.

This, like the opening up to Cuba is long overdue. I will be interested to see
how the right will respond ....

eden-if the goal were to help the middle class, I believe most Americans would support the measure. However, the intent is to raise 320 billion, not for the middle class, but for more government programs with which to buy v**es. So he wants to reduce capital gains taxes for the middle class. Big deal-most of the middle class is struggling to survive and do not enjoy capital gains of any kind. Hopefully, there are parts of this proposal that will help the middle class (i.e. increase the child tax credit) but those are not evident as yet. This is probably just another tax and spend ploy by the democrats. Do not trust the jackasses any further than you can throw the elephant. Good Luck America !!!

Once again I reiterate that all we need to do is stop sending billions of dollars all over the world and pump it into our economy and programs. Then no new taxes would be needed.
