In theory, it is what all conservatives want. In reality, "I don't want the school system punishing my child."
I agree about the teachers doing the teaching. Not only do buildings not teach, but school boards and school administrators do not teach.
I do think we should have one set of goals that we teach, after all, doesn't a child in California need to know the same information as a child in Alabama?

Then you are part of the problem, as I see it. If your child is acting out then it is only fair to the other students that your child be removed. You can do to them wh**ever at home you want, but your kid does not need to stop the education of the other students. Yes California is 100% Liberal, unfortunately.

Boy things are sure different where you live! In California you would be hard-pressed to find a conservative on a school board or ANYWHERE in the educational system. It makes you wonder if they're even allowed to serve on school boards or hold teaching jobs.

Because we have so many mexicans we have lowered the standards to dumb and dumber, seriously. The kids in Gate programs use to be the normal kids, now they are considered a whole different item because they do their homework and listen in class. The curve has gone way down.

All I know is that California's educational system consistently ranks around 49th in the nation.

To me public school is a waste of a child's time unless the parents are willing to supplement the curriculum. I am just thankful my child and grandchildren were able to attend private schools.

In their school modest uniforms were the rule. Teachers dressed as professionals not like they were going to a BBQ. If a child disrupted the class that child's parents were notified . The second time the child was sent to an alternate class. Third time they were no longer allowed to attend the school. Teachers were not allowed to strike a child.

Not one child was removed from the school for all the years my child attended. Parents taught their children how to behave. They were taught manners and respect for their elders at home.

I realize not everyone can afford private school. If public schools utilized more of the same rules, there would be less problems.

Interesting document.
As a teacher with experience in inner city school systems, I find the commentary at the end of the article to be disingenuous. In my experience it is conservative parents that never want their children to be punished. It tends to be conservatives that tend to sit on school boards and set school policies on punishment for behaviors. You can check in your local system and see who is on the school board. I say this having no idea of where you live. Do you have a liberal or conservative controlled local school board?

Please check your system to see who runs the school board, before you make assumptions. The vast majority of school boards in the USA are run by conservatives. Also, in most states, teachers unions have no real power at all. Check your laws in your state.

As to your friend, how did the school board or teachers union have an effect on a youth facility?

In my experience, school boards are radical left liberal. Including the one in a major US city on which my progressive sister sits. That's why our text books have been so dumbed down and now substitute social engineering propaganda for history, and don't mind historical inaccuracies if it pushes the progressive agenda. I've reviewed proposed high school texts and am appalled by the inaccurate, progressive agenda trash being taught as facts in our schools.

Good post, but not one thing surprising or new. It is how it is until we say stop and mean it.

Are you saying inner city school boards are made up mostly of conservatives? Many teachers I know do not agree with that assumption.
