Wasn't Robert E. Lee a Virginian?

And wasn't he the best general in that war who had to try to win with inferior forces. The man was very willing to support the Confederacy although he didn't support s***ery. He was the real hero of that war.

Bobby Lee was a s***e owner, but he treated them very well, and they loved him. Many stayed on with him after the war.

He certainly was. His plantation is now Arlington National Cemetery.

Little did the government imagine that in their retaliation against him, the taking of his land for fighting for the Confederacy, the land would become one of our most revered and honored sites in this country. He would be glad of the loss of the land to see it's current use honoring soldiers in their sacrifice for this country.

You r****ded ones always think that just because your brainwashed into believing all the socialistic marxist bulls**t the obozo puts out we should all be just as stupid, and cannot stand the fact that a lot of people still think for themselves and can see what this piece of dog dung potus is really up to!

Have you seen the ad for the Obama doll that can spew a number of lies programmed into it by the Chinese makers? It costs $9.99 but the drawback to buying it is that the tax on it is $199.99. I can't afford the taxes for it along with the increased rates I pay on Medicare along with raised income taxes. He did promise that we wouldn't have to pay higher taxes if he was elected, didn't he?

He was from Virginia as was his father Henry Lee, III and the following Patrick Henry, Sam Houston, Thomas Jefferson, Richard Henry Lee, both Lewis and Clark, James Madison, John Marshall, James Monroe, Peyton Randolph, and John Smith. Shall I go on? Shall I provide the historical influence on our country these individuals had?

Lee's father was "Lighthorse Harry" Lee, and was a Revolutionary War hero.

I believe the state of Virginia has furnished us with more presidents than any other.

Yes, it is one of their distinctions as well as providing the writers of our founding documents.

Please excuse me. Virginia is a Commonwealth as are Kentucky, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.

Abe Lincoln wanted Bobby Lee to head up the Union Army, but Lee told him that he couldn't do that to his own country (Virginia), and went home to lead the South.

I called the man Roberty Bob so often in a history class that the professor didn't say a thing about it when I wrote the name like that on a paper about him. He was one hell of a man but Grant proved to be every bit as good at Appomattox. Grant did all he could to make that terrible situation into something more like what it had to be. Both those men were real gentlemen.

According to Maynard there is no need for big words or grammar or spelling. Remember we should learn who our enemies are and educate. Basically, the philosophy of not worrying about writing sk**ls is and has been, in my personal opinion, the policy of the Dept. of Ed. for decades and shows.

Sorry, brief rant.

One more correction, Lasher: You stated that Lee was a s***e owner. Actually, Lee freed his s***e years before the War. At the outbreak of hostilities, he owned no s***es at all. In contrast, Grant's wife did own four s***es, and s***es they remained until they were freed in 1865. The Emancipation Proclamation of 1863, issued shortly after the battle of Antietam, only applied to Southern States. It was possible to own s***es in either W VA, or KY (I don't remember which), all through the war. A number of Lee's former s***es stayed with him as paid employees, which may be the reason for this misunderstanding.
