So if Christian Conservatives are so charitable why is it you seem to have such hatred for the poor? And do you give because you are chartable or because your god dictates you to? Of course if you guys truly are charitable then I would suggest you sign up with the Gates foundation and pledge your estate at your death. It targets world health, hunger, poverty, plus education and best of all the feds won't get one thin dime of your hard earned wealth!

Who's to say after you pass away who get's what I for one have willed to my favorite charitys with specific instructions .My kid's have been taken care of,they will have it better than I did after coming out of the service,which I didn't have a dime then but then if it had not been for self disceplian & beliefs as a conservative which I learned while in then I'd feel I'd still be poor.

I've never met a Christian conservative who h**es the poor. I think what they DO h**e are policies the government puts into place that assure the poor will remain poor. I question the honestly of all those who support such cruel policies.

Not all conservatives are Christian - and how you conclude conservatives h**e the poor indicates a stunning misunderstanding - unless you do understand that liberals love the poor, that's why the work so hard to create more - and yes, conservatives h**e the poor, that's why they endorse policies intended to change them from being poor to being middle class.

While displaying h**e for others, you accuse them of being h**eful - staggering irony.

I do not fit your mold.
However I am a Christian.
You have doubts as to what Christ would see as decent. You can have answers they are found in the Bible. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are books in the Bible. They can bring you to a full knowledge of the Christ also known as Jesus.

That is a thought provoking question . You asked do you give because you are charitable or because your God dictates.
I can only answer for our household.
First I will list some of our charitable giving. Regularly
We donate household items and clothing to the Good Will
We donate food to food banks
We send money to the following
Salivation Army
Local Homeless shelter.
Animal Shelter
Our local church
Occasional giving
Shriners Hospital
I have personally paid hospital bills of those who I knew could not afford hospital bills or part thereof.
I have purchased clothing entire back to school clothing and I mean everything 3 times for a family in need.
I have purchased an entire nursery ...crib crib bedding/clothes /bottles /diapers /swing/ changing table /bouncy seat /car seat/ stroller/ for a single mom who lived with her mother.
I have paid for a child to persue their dreams as a gymnast when that child's family could no longer afford it. They never knew it was me.
I have visited in nursing homes.
I have packed Christmas child boxes.
I have prepared meals for many it was not uncommon to prepare 30 or 40 lbs of potatoes. So that many thanksgiving dinners could be delivered. Not by an organization not church funded just us our family reaching out to our community.
I have done yard work. Purchased planted flowers for an elderly person who could no longer do so. I have made blankets I crochet.I have paid for a grandmother and her granddaughter to go to Disney World. Flight hotel tickets meals spending money
I have taken no tax deductions for my giving not once for any of my giving. Because everything I have is his !
I have cleaned my local church.
I have cleaned for those injured or ill.
I have fostered animals. I have cared for a single immigrant man's three children so that he could work about a month. I have had a foreign exchange student. I have adopted a child domestically with out ever planning on adoption. I have visited prisons so that a child could bond with its biological mother. I have driven the homeless to rehabilitation appointments. I have handed out sandwiches to the homeless . I buy bus tickets for people with cardboard signs. I help people on the side of the road. I give cash to people with cardboard signs. I purchase board games and books for public schools so on a rainy day recess is still fun.
Who am I ? I am one woman in Christ. I was there when Christ did everyone of those things through me. I eagerly look forward to wh**ever else he may allow me to be apart of.
Am I without sin NO
will works get me into Heaven NO
Do I still screw up YES
WILL BILL GATES GET ANYTHING FROM ME? hmmm maybe if it's the Lords Will and he intervenes divinely financially . Otherwise I'm not sure we are working class.

Obama personally donated only 1% of his income to charity. Same goes for Vice President Biden, who donated 1% of his income to charity in 2009 and 2010. That was an increase from the average of $369 per year that he donated over the previous ten years. I guess Messrs. Obama and Biden took their cues from former Vice President Al Gore, who in 1997 donated all of $353 to charity.
Andrew Cuomo was a homeless advocate throughout the 1990s, but according to his own tax returns he made no charitable contributions between 1996 and 1999. In 2000 he donated a whopping $2,750. In 2004 and 2005, Cuomo had more than $1.5 million in adjusted gross income but gave a paltry $2,000 to charity.
John Kerry, in 1995 he gave zero to charity, but did spend $500,000 to buy a half stake in a seventeenth century painting. In 1993, he gave $175 to the needy.
When Ted Kennedy chose to run for President in the 1970s,had a net worth of more than $8 million and an income of $461,444 from a series of family trusts, gave barely 1 percent of his income to charity. The sum is about as much as Kennedy claimed as a write-off on his fifty-foot sailing sloop Curragh.
Reagan donated more to charities with less income than FDR did. In 1985, for example, he gave away 6 percent of his income.
During the early 1990s, George W. Bush regularly gave away more than 10 percent of his income. In 2005, Vice President Dick Cheney gave away 77 percent of his income to charity. Liberals criticized him by claiming he was getting too much of a tax deduction. Same for Mitt Romney who gave 16% of his income in the past 2 years.
PeterS being a liberal, my bet is you dont give anything to charity but lip service.

I have recently written to you about the magnificent works I have been witness to. I was there when Christ reached out to some he so loves through me.

I would love to share with you in depth the Godly man I married. He is one of those born into the world so close to Good and Godliness he just always seems to do the right thing. He is slow to speak. When he speaks it is almost always uplifting . He is so focused on his Savior that regardless of hardship or circumstance he sees Glory he sees opportunity to love.

He is an avid reader of the scriptures or Bible. My nickname for him is faithful. Because it best describes him. He is faithful in all things. I marvel at the impact for Christ this man has. If I were to start making a list here of the things Christ has done through him , I would be here all night.

He gives because he can and that alone he counts as joy.

He gives of his time which is amazing since he has so little free time. He works 52 to 70 hours a week.

He leads by example. He is humble. He is generous. He has raised our children to live a life of love and respect for all mankind.

He brings out the best in people whether it's the heavily tattooed guy in front of us at a Wendy's, that he has never met ,or billionaire in a field at a dove shoot. He is captivating, some call him Hollywood, others Chief. The thing you know that illusive thing the it factor he has it.

I asked him once How do you remain so calm and attentive when someone is so obviously wrong. He couldn't tell me.

I asked him once how can you be charitable after how wronged you have been by that person. He couldn't tell me. Said he couldn't put into words.

Let's just say I have asked him a lot of things in regards to his extra ordinary behavior.
And sometimes I got a shrug of the shoulders or the nod of the head. Once in a while he would just hold up his hand as if to ask me please don't ask.

About now you might be thinking well he sounds a bit sensitive maybe he's a girly man. Nope, I have watched this man break up a knife fight in a convenience store parking lot. My daughter witnessed him get between two men once again somebody had a knife. In both instances nobody was harmed nobody made a mistake they couldn't take back.

Oh well he is a tough guy then . nope he's 6'1 slim build and wears a cowboy hat. We do not live out west . He stands out. He's not now nor has he ever been in law enforcement He was never a soldier.

He is observant if your a female arriving at a wedding and no Male is in your car. He springs into action making that sprint in coat and tie to open your car door and offer you his hand. If there is another male near by you will be recruited to help out... in that male language with looks and nods.

I finally figured it out one day. Years into our marriage How he can love in the face of h**e. How he sees everyone the same. ( they are all in his heart a brother or sister in Christ he just hadn't met yet ) Why because he seeks Christ every morning in prayer then he reads and rereads the advice and stories / parables of Christ.
He gets his head straight
He gets his heart straight
Years passed
I caught him always up before me first things first seeking Christ.
One morning early 5:30 I walked through half glancing at him. I was stopped in my tracks. Because that man I married was looking at me so affectionately so peaceful and so kind and I had seen the look before when he held our daughter just before saying good night a tiny infant. He placed her in her crib and squeezed my hand. He was choked up said he just felt overwhelmed at how much love he had for her.
And that morning I knew that look the look of a father completely in awe and in admiration of this tiny person in his life humble and grateful and in that moment I knew my husband's face was reflecting my heavenly Father's love. That was the look of Christ.
You see every morning my husband invites Christ into his life. That's it that's the it factor it's a father's love.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Beautifully lived, beautifully accepted, and beautifully written. How you must cherish your family, your
God, and your life. Embrace and hug them all for me as I believe all of you deserve big, huge hugs. I cannot adequately express the profound respect I have for you and your family. If everyone had such a family, wars would not exist, and no one would be alone or in trouble. Trouble is, too many of us obsess on worldly goods, on worldly problems, and on worldly greed.
I am so grateful for my family. I am appreciative of your comments.
I did not always make good choices unlike my husband I have been unkind and unforgiving ignorant and at times cruel. That changed and I ,now ,with sincerity try to live for Jesus. you have a gift you are very good at. My opinion it may be exhortation. Thank you for seeing why I treasure my husband. He really is that totally awesome. And he plays a mean air guitar.
Let's put it in other words Dave he may just understand your talking to a liberals hard head.Liberals would give a fish to a man to feed himself and family,which in turn turns him into a liberal s***e "WELFARE CASE" but on the other hand a true conservative would rather teach the same man how to fish to feed himself & family "A HELPING HAND UP" hope that clear's things up for him.
Another way of stating it:
Joe is the first person responsible for Joe's welfare. Only after he has done his part in providing for himself, is any other person responsible for any aspect of his welfare.
I'd say he's on his own if he's received a helping hand up.
