I left nothing out. It has always been the premise that the Crusades were against the Muslims. It was also stated indirectly that the Crusades were against the Muslims in my original post. I put forth links showing where I got the information. Your premise is invalid.

p.s. your muslim colors are starting to show through, its ok if you are muslim. We are all free thinkers here, Im just saying IF you are you don't have to hide it here.

Although I did not state directly that I am not a Muslim, but that I am against organized religion, one could surmise that I am not a Muslim. But as you seem not to infer this correctly, I will tell you now I am not a Muslim, Christian, Pagan, Satanist, Buddhist, Taoist, etc. I have a personal philosophy I have derived from many different religions and philosophies, some of which actually cross over one another. If you want to classify me as something closely related to religion, call me a Devil's Advocate. Your premise is not only inaccurate but invalid as well.

Timothy McVeigh
Adam Lanza
Eric Harris
Dylan Klebold
Just to name four. Your premise is invalid.

Ok, mmccarty : for the sake of semantics Ill concede the four you listed, however you did not apply a name to the WHO!, from, and these are your words....(it seems that the Crusades began as an attempt to regain Jerusalem.)

Sir/madam, Atheist, scientologist, Zen master, not that i care what you are or are not. Would/could you just put a name to the WHO, please?

Hey mmccarty12:

Just because you change your name to "Devils Advocate", doesn't give you license to to be rude and ignore a question....
If ya don't know, say, "I don't know"..... And we can move on. Im sure a person of your babbling ability can muster those three words.

p.s. not all Muslims are terrorists, but so far the word muslim, is the one more often than not, preceding the word terrorist(s).

I have no need to change my name, Devil's Advocate is someone else completely.

If I do not know something, I have the intellect to go out and research the necessary information. Something you seem incapable of doing. You have repeatedly demand that I support my claims and I have done so, yet you make no efforts to support your claims. Which of us is really the babbler?

I have not been rude and I have answered every one of your questions in a polite manner and have shown where I got the information I used to support my argument. If you are incapable of comprehending, that is not my fault.

If you really want to figure out exactly why the Crusades started, maybe you should start your research here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Jerusalem

or here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crusades
First line of the first paragraph:
Quote:
Crusades were religiously motivated campaigns conducted between the 11th and 16th centuries predominantly but not exclusively against Muslims in the Near East but also against pagans, heretics, and peoples under the ban of excommunication for a mixture of religious, economic, and political reasons.(Emphasis mine)

I will not say you are correct that the Crusades were started by the Christians because of Muslims. The Crusades were started by the Christians at the time the Muslims had control of the city of Jerusalem.

So once again, I have answered your question. If this is not satisfactory, you are on your own from here on out.

As an aside, since you seem so adamant to prove me wrong, why do you not support your arguments? All I see from you is a one note song when you might be able to muster so much more if you tried. I suggest you look at my other posts and decide whether I am capable of admitting I am wrong, you might learn something.

What occurred in the past with regard to religion is just that: history. If we don't learn from history, we are probably going to repeat it. Though there are still conflicts caused by religious beliefs, Islam is still trying to force everyone in the world to believe what they believe or die (or become s***es). No other "religion" requires that everyone in the world subscribe to it's laws. Followers of islam (whether they actively participate in terror tactics or not) do not openly condemn these atrocities. That doesn't give most people much choice in believing whether or not they agree with it. islam sucks!!

mmccarty12: a thousand apologies for my accusation about your name change. I saw in ur post that thats how you would describe yourself, and low and behold a "devils advocate " joins just a few short moments later i had a hard time believing it to be coincidence. If you say its not you then I apologize.
Also with your most recent post along with the attached link, you have answered my question, and for that, a thousand thank you(s). I am ready to move on now, and i hope you are as well.

I continue to stand by what I wrote in my original post despite your continued attempts to change the subject to the evils of Christianity.
I say again if domeone wants to start a thread about the evils of Christianity, I might participate.

the Bible teaches people to be good, but sometimes they slip and do bad things, the koran teaches people to be bad but sometimes they slip and do good
