BK gets his information from for profit fear mongers.

The Nova Scotia incident garnered national attention and condemnation thanks to the CBC.

Naw, I get my info from Al Sharpton, the New York Crimes and the major media. All very believable con men.

So do I. Not everyone is happy with their healthcare and its not uncommon to have to wait months for needed procedures. Many who can afford it go to the US so they don’t have to wait so long

Maybe here in the US. But my Canadian Nurse friend who left Canada was here at least 25 years pre C***D. Same for sister in law who came here for surgery. I think that is the most telling of all about Canadian Health Services. Two years in pain, need simple shoulder surgery. Have to travel to America and PAY CASH because you can't function anymore, it was in her dominant arm.

They wont listen. I've share how my friend, a Canada operation room nurse, moved to the US. She couldn't even get hospice care for her dying dad and her a nurse. She's still here, owns a house on the water, retired and she told me "I've told people my story and they think it's a one time thing or I must have done something wrong". Her sister-in law waited two years, in pain, before coming to the US and paying to get her shoulder surgery.

It's not a one time thing. I had a friend from Canada, the director of a medical clinic who had a knee problem which began to effect his walking ability. He was put on a two year waiting list for surgery.

For you fans of Canada's health care system, a woman in Nova Scotia was taken to the ER, and lay in the floor for seven hours, later dying without ever having seen a doctor.

It’s true. It became a nation wide outrage. There are hospital staffing problems in Nova Scotia and Ontario. Both have healthcare cost cutting conservatives governments and are encouraging free market pay for health care options, if you can afford it.

Liberals are not doing much better. The feds and the provinces just hammered out a increase in federal funding. No one is happy.

But yes, the Conservatives are being fiscally responsible and encouraging free enterprise. For those that are donors.

Are you saying that the wonderful super fantabulous Canadian Socialist health care system, that was pointed to by Obama Care Zombie supporters is not economically sustainable and systematically gives poor outcomes to Canadian Citizens ? I refuse to believe that.

When we were arguing about Obama Care a decade or so ago, we Conservatives could point to the dysfunctional British Health Care system as expensive and horrible, but we were assured that the Canadians had figured out how to make government healthcare a great success. We poor unsuccessful Conservatives would point out the many Canadians seeking medical treatment in the US of A because wait times in Canada for routine procedures were extremely long. We were dismissed as conspiracy theorists over that.

Healthcare is very expensive. I have never experienced inadequate care personally. No one goes bankrupt or has to spend their life savings.

Did the lady get a bill for dying in the hospital?

No as health care is based on the U.K. plan of socialized medicine. The people are taxed for it and don't pay bills.
I had a friend in the Netherlands which has a similar system who had to be hospitalized for a kidney stone. He did o.k. and didn't have to pay a dime. His condition was straight forward and routine though.

Many wealthy Canadians with health problems come south to the U.S. and pay for care if they can afford it as opposed to getting on a waiting list. In fact I've been told by a Canadian doc, if one needs cardiac bypass surgery, they get put on a waiting list and if they're still alive at 12 to 18 months they might get it if they're not dead by then.

It would be smart for border hospitals to offer discounts to get them to come over and increase their volume if the hospital needs it. Kurt

Bingo! I did a post that outlines this outcome! Border hospitals/doctors would be smart to do discount pricing for everyone to increase volume. It would have to be for Americans and Canadians too as by law they couldn't have a discount price for Canadians and an exhorbitant price for Americans. The "gubbermint" and insurance companies wouldn't allow it. Kurt
