We HAVE background checks. Now, just for you, here's a reality check. For the past eight years, at least, there have been more than 100,000 stops per year on gun purchases from FFL dealers. On average, about one hundred per year are prosecuted, with a less than 30 percent conviction rate. "Universal background checks" is nothing more than a bulls**t phrase for a useless, unenforceable bureaucratic SNAFU. Have you ever heard of Haynes v US 1968? (What's wrong with me? Of COURSE you haven't; that would require research.) The SCOTUS ruled that convicted felons cannot be prosecuted for lying on the 4473 form you have to fill out to purchase a firearm because it would violate their 5th Amendment right against self-incrimination.

These were not purchased privately. According to the FBI, the average gun recovered from a criminal is stolen, several years old and has been sold on the street several times. You cannot make background checks retroactive, it violates Article I Sections 9 & 10 of the US Constitution.
The claim that 30 or 40 percent of firearms are sold at gun shows without a background check is bulls**t. The data is more than 25 years old. Currently less than 3% of them are sold by private individuals. Since I doubt you have ever been to a gun show, here's a heads up: There are damn near as many cops there as civilians.
I stated this elsewhere on this posting; for the past 8 years at least there have been more than 100,000 stops every year on firearms sales at FFL dealers. Less than 100 per year on average are prosecuted with a conviction rate of less than 30 percent. You actually think requiring a background check before a grandpa gives his grandson a .22 will reduce crime?

People must be adjudicated mentally incompetent in court. This is to avoid a situation like the old Soviet Union where dissidents were glory holed into "mental hospitals" and abused till they really were insane.

The stimulus for this a******l, disturbing behavior, is that women are beginning to be perceived as the most powerful of the two sexes. And boys, more than girls, are probably more susceptible to the desire for power. It's in the genes, and the testosterone.
