I know this is gonna be so different for everyone.

I was a " kid " riding around in my '56 Chevy. I had it made and didn't even know it. It was all the result of two loving parents, and a simpler time in life for me.

Aside from the anti-war protestors and the hippy movement it was a good time.

I was a 7 year old kid. Playing ball in the vacant lot next door, riding our bikes everywhere, catching horney toads, and salamanders. Camping and fishing with my grandparents on weekends. Life sure was simple then. It sucks being all growed up sometimes. Even so, I am truly grateful, and thankful for the many, many blessings I have in my life today.

I remember that year very well, I just finish my Master in Clinical Medical Science. And had just stared to work in Orthopedics. I was sure I wanted to be a doctor of Obstetrics. I wound up working part time in Labor/Delivery but spending much of my time with returning Vets. I too had it made. Papa was healthy and Moma too. The days were sunshine and Beatles listed to on a t***sistor radio. I drove a yellow VW rag top....

Thanks for the walk down memory lane!!!

I doubt that! That was the year 27-year-old Colonel Muammar al-Qaddafi deposes King Idris of Libya and establishes a pro-Arabic, anti-Western, Islamic republic. And NY r**ts...gay rights. Nam was being revved up by Nixon while he signed the nuclear pact... Music was 4 beat and harmony, bridges over troubled water, and feeling groovey!

So Bob, you and I are about the same age. Your division is the one We Were Soldiers was based on....one of the most decorated in the Army. Thank goodness that you were not wrapped up in the Tet Offensive....that was the year before you arrive....I think, unless my memory is failing which is quite possible.

Living in England with my parents, my father was a major in the air force. He had gotten back from 2 tours in Vietnam flying F4's. Cool place to be if you didn't mind the IRA's random bombings in London.

Semper Fi

There are no "old" Marines only 'well seasoned' Marines.
