Curious to know how you came to the conclusion it was low tech, wasn't it shot down over the Atlantic in an area where it would be irretrievably?
Also, why is it acceptable for a weather balloon to fly over OUR country without ANY before hand knowledge?
You can't tell me the Chinese didn't know they're balloon was flying over our soil, and you sure as hell can't tell me it would be acceptable if we did the same to them.
One would have figured better protocols would have been in place after the 1st time this happened less than 6 months ago.

You are speculating about something you don't actually know anything about. The balloon could, at least, do something a satellite 🛰 can't, hover over a target. We don't really know China's full technological capabilities.
