Assuming everything you say is accurate and the figures work out as you say then that extra $550 a month will likely cost $40 to $50 a month in taxes. Hardly an abyss and you will be an extra $6000 a year ahead of where you are now. Not counting for inflation of course.

I previously asked what he meant by “abyss”. I certainly didn’t see a down side for them receiving the additional funds. Abyss was a negative reaction. Nice job explaining their situation. Hopefully it will ease his mind and he’ll look on the bright side.

I lived in Southern C****efornia for five years as an economic refugee back in the 70's. I'm not a city boy, so I moved back to Pure Michigan. In Cali, I would get screaming mad at the deductions on my pay. They took almost half! Michigan is a more beautiful place though, and I'm glad as hell the weather is colder than a witch's heart, so the Commifornianns don't move here! It's going below zero tonight, yippee!
