I paid my fair share for 42 years of toiling. I retired in the Spring of 2006 due to a brain aneurism that totally disabled me for life and that year was the last year I had enough income to tax. All of my pension and SS money added up isn't enough to trigger a tax. When my better half signs up for her SS, that extra $300.00 and the $250.00 a month bump that I got this year will probably send us into the abyss.

Assuming everything you say is accurate and the figures work out as you say then that extra $550 a month will likely cost $40 to $50 a month in taxes. Hardly an abyss and you will be an extra $6000 a year ahead of where you are now. Not counting for inflation of course.

Sorry about your disability.

I previously asked what he meant by “abyss”. I certainly didn’t see a down side for them receiving the additional funds. Abyss was a negative reaction. Nice job explaining their situation. Hopefully it will ease his mind and he’ll look on the bright side.

Being unable to afford staying in my home of 33 years. To me, that's the "Abyss". In 1990, the property taxes were under $1,000 a year. Now, they are almost $3,000.00 a year. In 1990, the utilities were around $350.00 a month, now, they run over $500.00 a month. The natural gas bill went up 40% just in the last year! It gets cold in Michigan in the Winter!

I lived in Southern C****efornia for five years as an economic refugee back in the 70's. I'm not a city boy, so I moved back to Pure Michigan. In Cali, I would get screaming mad at the deductions on my pay. They took almost half! Michigan is a more beautiful place though, and I'm glad as hell the weather is colder than a witch's heart, so the Commifornianns don't move here! It's going below zero tonight, yippee!

Heil Whitler! 🇨🇳 When I see Gretchen, I wanna start retchin'. ☹️ This wretched wench could suck-start a leaf blower. 😂 Her hubby wanted to go to the front of the line to launch their yacht right after she lifted the tyrannical lockdown, so I don't have a lot of praise for those kinds of jerks. Until January, we had a Republican majority in both houses for forty years. How else do you think we got shall-issue concealed carry back in 2001?

And that's what the lefties don't understand about our Constitution. Our Constitution doesn't grant any rights. It protects the ones given by God to every man...provided he's not here illegally. 😊
