Your comment "welcoming them into the flock." It's a natural sentiment that Christians want to welcome everyone yet those who intentionally blaspheme against God by their unrepentant behavior cannot be part of His flock. Jesus would never stand outside the door of His Church saying, "Come just as you are, you never have to change." What would be the point? The Church must speak with the authority it was given & that means we do not compromise with evil.

I think he's saying that a truly Christian church would not welcome a gay person without the knowledge that the "gay" person does not want to be gay anymore... That they know their lifestyle is a sin, they are working on not being tempted to commit the sin anymore, they know it is wrong, they are sorry that they committed a sin and they will try their human best not to commit it again.

There are a lot of hypocrites in the world who will not reveal their sins but will instead put on a false face and have ulterior motives. God can see through them even if the flock cannot. And then there are some who truly want to repent but are weak and need encouragement and support like an alcoholic or drug abuser who relapses. Remember, Christians aren't perfect, but they are forgiven and redeemed if they give up their sinful ways. Relapses occur, and Christians should help them overcome this, not ostracize them, don't you think?

There are a lot of hypocrites in the world who wil... (show quote)

All Christians are sinners yet Christ will not punish us because we sin but because we don't repent. Since we sin every day we are called to repent every day. We have to ask for forgiveness after Baptism. The Church must not accept or tolerate blatant unrepentant sinners, emphasis on unrepentant. To do so brings shame & discredit to Christ's Body.
