He told me he was washing the 2nd love of his life, a 1939 Chrysler Royal he kept and babied even thru my high school years, when the announcement came over the radio. I can remember the anti-aircraft guns & searchlights all over town and black out curtains in our homes. I'm guessing those searchlights eventually found their way to support Hollywood gala openings. Douglas Aircraft had a camouf**ged housing area built over the plant. My dad got a draft notice but was denied because he was deemed necessary to the war effort. I grew up with that great generation in those perilous times, closely followed by the Korean War as many of our other OPP contributors have.

There is nothing comparable to that America & America today. America in this age is incapable of defending & protecting her citizens, not because of our diminishing military capability, because of a peril far greater & more evil than the peril that attacked us 81years ago combined with the war in Europe. That peril is the neo-Marxist Progressive Party still calling themselves Democrats. The Left is, unquestionably, the greatest evil & most dangerous enemy America has ever faced and we are losing.

No. You believe that rights are actually privileges to be extended or denied at the whim of some all powerful government. Like all Progs, you worship at the altar of AUTHORITY. You never stop to think a government as powerful as the one you want can take all you have.

Excellent and accurate observation!

We flew over Iwo at 10,000 feet, Jan 1964, in an old C-119. So small to have cost so much. We set down at Wake Island too on the way to Okinawa. So much History remembered today. We were fortunate to have sat at the feet and learned the values of the greatest generation.

Liberal was never a legitimate term for Democrats who stole the term from the Classical Liberalism philosophy of our Founders who I might add have been bastardized by the neo-Marxist Progressive Left as evil men, interested only in increasing their personal wealth and dismissive of their fellow man.

When I read that they want to monitor the balances in our bank accounts, it makes me think that we are closer than we realize to a completely socialist country. And it is said that Socialism is just one step away from C*******m.

When that happens, everyone will be equally poor. No one will have anything - no house, no car, no food, no job....nothing. Dems keep saying they want e******y - they want to "spread the wealth", well...they're going to get it that's for sure. The only problem is, they don't realize that that wealth is not going to be "spread" to them! They are going to be just as poverty-stricken dependent on our government as everyone else. Case in point: Venezuela.

My dad flew over Iwo Jima when he was in WWII. He left a log of all the missions he did, and one entry says "Iwo Jima...two thirty seven...84 rounds...back to ship three oh eight". He was a turret gunner on a plane on the Navy carrier 'USS Natoma Bay'. One of his stories is that one day the plane came in for a landing on the carrier and the cable with the hook that was supposed to stop the plane malfunctioned and grabbed the wrong part of the plane. They went over the side of the carrier and their plane, with dad sitting in the turret, ended up dangling over the side of the ship. It took them almost the whole night to rescue the crew.

Pic of the turret on the type of plane he flew...a Grummen Topedo bomber...

I had an Uncle, Wendel Conlee - Florida, who piloted a B24 Liberator and bombed the Ploiesti oil refinery in Romania.. On one mission he returned with everyone else dead yet he didn't have a scratch. His aircraft was literally shot to pieces, mostly shrapnel. He was a calm quiet man.

My dad wouldn't talk about his time on Iwo. He told me when he ran off the LST with a group of Marines, he tripped over someone who had been shot in his forehead and fell in the saltwater on the beach.
He said:" I knew then this was serious s**t..".
Back then it was called "shell shocked". Now it's called PTSD. Hard to believe this many Americans lost their lives on that tiny island.

padre mike, You actually believe that the Democratic Party is a Neo-Marxist party? I have been a Democrat all my life with the exception of the first two years I v**ed. I was a member of the Liberal Party back then. The Liberal-Progressive movement in this country has nothing to do with Marxism, or even Democratic-Socialism.
The Liberal movement started out as the party of the new factory owning class of the 1800s. They wanted freedom of speech, and the pen as well as other democratic rights as the land owning aristocrats had.
The conservative movement started out as the supporters of royalty, the aristocratic class, they also emphasize family values and the status quo in general.
The Marxists movement started out as the party of labor in the 1840s. They are a revolutionary group that seeks to o*******w the economic-political-social order of the world. It sought the end of the capitalist system, replaced by a dictatorship of the proletariat, until the entire world was c*******t. At that time, international borders would disappear, as well as governments, and the world would become a complete paradise for workers. None of these ideas are incorporated by liberals. In this country, Marxism never became popular with workers because of the growth of labor unions.
I as a Democrat, support the right to own property. I support democracy. I do believe that the power, and wealth of corporations are powerful enough to buy politicians, and that we must protect working people by making sure that their civil, human, and economic rights are protected by law.

Sir: If you will look at history all the way from the 1830's or so you will find that the Dem party is the one that has consistently said we are doing this for the minorities. I ask you to t***hfully show how the saying has t***slated into action. I remember Green Card workers in my community as I grew up and some worked at our place. I remember when the program was ended and how many community members were unhappy. I also remember that it was Reagan who granted amnesty to the laborers who were in the US from Mexico. I believe historically the Reps have generally done more for the labor class than the Dems. The difference being that the Dems have a much better propaganda system than the Reps. As for the Reps being the party of the business moguls I believe if you check there are just as many Dems in that caste as Reps. Are the Dems of that class treating their workers better, worse, or equal?

I do not think the Dems are better than the Reps. They just have louder town criers while the laissez faire attitude of the Reps doesn't allow them to push their side forward.

Both parties have moved so far from their beginnings that if the founders of either party were to appear today that person would recognize neither party. I have chosen not to belong to either party as I think both are destroying America in their own way.

One example. One of the richest men in the world, Jeff Bezos, an admitted progressive moved his workers to part time at Whole Foods so he didn't have to pay for health insurance.
