I have been reading posts on this site for months, but have not posted more than a sentence or two. I am amazed too by the amount of vitriol here. It's not enough to state an opinion, you risk being attacked by others who disagree. This is what is wrong with the country. The rusty wheel gets oiled. Those that yell the loudest feel as if they have won the argument, regardless of whether they are right or wrong. And then there are those that feel like degrading others makes them feel superior, when they really aren't.
I am a retired nurse with 30 years behind me. I am a conservative, with a splash of independent included. I spent the last three years of my life caring for my elderly Mother, who had Alzheimer's and passed away in March of this year. I waited to post until after the e******ns. I am the Mother of two, the Grandmother of two girls and Great Grandmother to one little boy. I am on Medicare and SSDI due to those many years n my feet. and my knees are shot.

I do take issue with those who try to bully others. We all don't believe everything we see or hear. I think before I speak. And I try to imagine how others would feel if I was rude and disrespectful. Hopefully I can meet some people here capable of reasonable conversation between people with different beliefs and ideas. The people here seem to be intelligent, with a few exceptions. Those are people who want the rules to apply to everyone except themselves. Those are the people who should be politicians.

I always try to be civil. I do get carried away sometimes, though. If someone is rude to me, or insults me, I usually let them have it right back. With both barrels. Does that make me a bad person? I don't think so.

Of course it doesn't make you a bad person. Not only would you no longer true to yourself, the people who have differing ideas have no chance to think about what you said and perhaps either change their mind or to share why they think the way they do. All I meant was there is never a need to call people names and to be insulting. The message is then lost.

With all due respect, I disagree. You have not followed this forum for all that long, apparently. There are those who post here with no message, no reason except to call names and hurl insults. Ignoring them doesn't work. This is a type of bullying. Bullies don't go away if you ignore them. They go away after you kick their ass.
I almost forgot, welcome to OPP. It's always nice to have a polite poster, agree or not. Hang on to your hat, or in your case, your sphygmomanometer. Now there's one that's easier to type than pronounce.

You want to hear h**e tune into right wing radio and listen to the screaming h**e filed rhetoric. It's such a shame that the public airways could be used In this manner. Both the right and left want what we think is best for our country we just cant agree on what is best

So, you listen to "right wing radio"? Hmm.....had you considered listening to the message as opposed to the tone of voice? Had you considered you had already determined your position before you listened? Probably not would be the answer to those questions.
