He did have the power to declassify, noone is saying he didn't (and they don't care that they are classified but that he took our (the American people's) stuff. You honestly think anyone should including the president should be able to pack stuff up and say all the stuff I have no matter what is all declassified and not let at least homeland security or somebody know he has it?
Better still, you work someplace. Maybe you are the boss but even still.

No you aren't the president and it doesn't matter as much however being president is a job just like yours.
The President's job is to make sure somebody knows and documents exactly what he has to whom ever he is supposed to tell. All our lives depend on it.
If you were a spy in one of these countries, doing your job, and protecting our freedom and your family doesn't even know what you do. Do you think it's safe for you (or America) that your name should be just sitting in the basement of a golf course because the president thought it should be declassified and took it with him? He doesn't even have the same amount of secret service agents protecting him yet alone his stuff.
