Perhaps keeping your umbrella in the same place at all times would be beneficial to locating it.

It is my personal opinion that every single IRS employee, including the new promoted employee to handle ACA for the IRS, should forthwith be terminated with notation in their personnel file stating they are ineligible for rehire in any Federal Agency at any time.

It is my personal opinion that all individuals in the employ of the White House who knew about this should be terminated forthwith. If those employees include Chief of Staff, White House Counsel, Jay Carnival, etc. remove them from their position.

By enacting such removals, the public in all areas would be reassured, by actions not words, the President is serious about his statements to the effect these behaviors are not acceptable.

I think that firing people for doing their job as mandated by law is a bit over the top. I do agree that anyone who was involved in this targeting should be fired for the reasons you give.

I would point out that I think that the actions of the Cincinnati IRS office was not politically motivated. To me it would make sense for the IRS to target people who are anti-tax, not because they are anti-tax but because they might be more likely to be misusing the law in order to avoid taxes. In other words, this is profiling. The IRS profiles all the time. If your tax return fits a certain profile, the chances of you getting audited is VERY high. So, the IRS folks were seriously misguided in targeting these anti-tax conservative groups and they should be fired, if for no other reason, for extremely poor judgment.

As I have posted earlier, I tend not to ascribe hostile intentions to action than can be satisfactorily attributed to incompetence.

I'll take your advise and shop for an umbrella stand.

Maybe you will need several umbrellas for that stand so buy some of them in numbers that may be needed.

I have to take it for granted that you don't know about the work of that anchor from Fox 19 in Cincinatti. He has connected everyone of those people you folks want to fire hoping the thing will blow over, to different managers above them and them to different people above them. He has run the line pretty high in the IRS and I believe up to and including Lois Lerner. This didn't all happen by accident but then those local TV people don't know anything, do they? I think you may also have to be told that the local Fox channels are not part of Fox News, but are just the same as all the other local people.

You may have to just stay indoors for a while once the whole thing breaks to the point it can't be covered from the White House.

If the Lois Lerner you are referring to is the "pretty high in the IRS" to whom you are referring, I wasn't aware that director of the tax exempt organizations division at the IRS was all that high. But what do I know. I also don't watch a lot of local news from Cincinnati (my id should tell you that Cincinnati is not in my neck of the woods) but I'm sure the local Cincinnati news people do a good job. I know that a Fox affiliate is not the same as FOX news, but thanks for reminding me.

I'm aware that Lois has taken the 5th rather than testify in front of Congress and she has been placed on administrative leave.

I think that you did not read my post(s). I want all those who were involved in this to be fired, regardless of their position. I'm not wanting IRS agents in Cincinnati or anywhere else to be scapegoats.

How far up the chain of command at IRS do you want to see people fired. That Fox channel from Cincinnati has found that all the six people from that office who have been accused of game playing all have different managers above them and on up to the next layer beyond them. They have even been able to connect some people at or above Lois Lerner who need to be questioned by the Issa people. I think that this thing goes much higher than you want to believe and that the House people are going to find many, if not all, of the people who have been involved in this.

Like I said, I think that everyone involved should be fired, no matter how high it goes. I have no particular opinion how high that might be. However, rather than idle speculation which serves no purpose, I prefer to wait to see what the investigation turns up.

Would you prefer the House to continue the investigation or would you prefer an investigation by a independent counsel? The latter would be the best for the Obama lovers so make your choice.

Well, I didn't know that it was my choice to make but, I would like to see it done in the House. I don't like special prosecutors and I disagree with you that Obama or Obama supporters would find a special prosecutor to be a better choice. Special prosecutors are motivated to find something even when there is nothing to find. I mean, who wants to investigate and spend a lot of taxpayer dollars and come back with a finding of "there's nothings here." Let the House keep going. I know that the Republicans are like special prosecutors in that they want to find something but in the case of the House, they are more constrained in their investigations than is a special prosecutor.

We both know that the special prosecutor would take longer to get it all done and wouldn't probably do as thorough a job as Issa will do. They do, as you say, often get off the topic and find other things that should have never showed up.

I will stay with Issa and here is a strong part of the reason.

They should follow this wherever it leads. But, they must not turn this into a witch hunt.

A witch hunt? Have you kept up with what is going on or just hoped that the IRS can survive this one. I don't think a bunch of them will survive with their jobs in contact. Once it is all out I am sure that Obama, and Carney if he still has a job will unload on all of them. It has become obvious that those people were working on orders from DC. That one who was above those the White House is blaming said he/she had to just quit in order to save himself from what is coming.

It gets better and better so you might want to start calling Issa and his people a bunch of witch h****rs hoping you can get enough people to go along with you.

Damn, can't say anything around here without someone getting their shorts in a knot. I didn't say that there was a witch hunt. I said that I hope it doesn't become a witch hunt. Congress has, in the past, shown a propensity for doing that. I would like them not to do it this time. However, like I said, I want them to follow this wherever it goes. I don't understand how any of that is particularly contentious.

I think it has gone further than you want it to go already. Issa is not doing anything but talking to people who work for IRS and getting them to tell their story.

In other words, Issa is a liar. Right?

In other words people of the left don't like to hear what is going on with Issa's committee.

I didn't say that Issa is a liar. You said "I bet you think that it had gone too far already." I said "you are wrong" meaning that I don't think that it has gone too far. That seems like pretty simple English to me.

People that are to the left of you (Barry Goldwater would be left of you) are not afraid of the t***h and, as long as Issa keeps his committee from indulging in a witch hunt, we are OK with it. This is contrary to the people on the far right who find t***h to be inconvenient so they just ignore it.

Now, if you leave me alone, I will leave you (and this board) alone.
