First: Enforce existing laws. The young man in Uvalde should have been on the NICS list.

Second: Schools are soft targets - make them hard targets. And for those who cry about how expensive it is - ask them how much a child's life is worth. And ask them how much we spend on i*****l a***ns. And ask them how much money goes to foreign countries. And countless other wastes of taxpayers dollars.

When terrorists attacked a school in Maalot in 1974, instead of declaring every school a gun-free zone, Israel passed a law mandating armed security in schools, provided weapons training to teachers, and, even today, runs frequent active shooter drills. There have been only two school shootings since then, and both have ended with teachers k*****g the terrorists.

Wealthy have protection - they hire armed guards.

You put your money in a bank - all sorts of protection there.

Military bases are protected - by the soldiers, limited access, etc.

Airports/airplanes are protected - TSA, body searches, etc.

Then raise the age for military service to 21 or 25, because military personnel have REAL assault weapons. Let me ask you a question, and I'm serious; you think that a ban on semi autos or magazines would have prevented this? One. More. Time. The shooter was outside the school shooting for more than ten minutes before he walked into the school unchallenged through an UNLOCKED DOOR. The cops conveniently got there just after he had entered the building, and stood around outside, busily tazing and arresting frantic parents while the k**ler shot their children. For more than an hour these asswipes stood around outside the building, more concerned with arresting frantic parents than exposing their precious asses to danger. The k**ler was inside with a bunch of unarmed kids for more than an hour. How the hell does what kind of rifle he had have any effect? He could have had a single shot rifle or shotgun and k**led just as many. When no one can shoot back, it doesn't matter. You have all the time you need. Why the hell do you think almost every single mass shooting happens in gun free zones?
