Suggestions? I have seen several. Read the one about Israel

First: Enforce existing laws. The young man in Uvalde should have been on the NICS list.

Second: Schools are soft targets - make them hard targets. And for those who cry about how expensive it is - ask them how much a child's life is worth. And ask them how much we spend on i*****l a***ns. And ask them how much money goes to foreign countries. And countless other wastes of taxpayers dollars.

Then start with these.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/how-schools-in-israel-keep-students-safe-and-prevent-mass-shootings/

When terrorists attacked a school in Maalot in 1974, instead of declaring every school a gun-free zone, Israel passed a law mandating armed security in schools, provided weapons training to teachers, and, even today, runs frequent active shooter drills. There have been only two school shootings since then, and both have ended with teachers k*****g the terrorists.

And, I might mention these things as well:

Politicians have protection - either thru the government (Secret Service, etc.)

Wealthy have protection - they hire armed guards.

You put your money in a bank - all sorts of protection there.

Military bases are protected - by the soldiers, limited access, etc.

Airports/airplanes are protected - TSA, body searches, etc.

What protects the school kids?

There's over 130,000 schools in the US, quite an expensive proposition to place armed guards in every school.

No but aren't most shot guns limited to the amount of wheels they can hold. Quite a difference between a 30 clip magazine and a 3 or 5 shell shot gun. Of course you're right, dead is dead, but k*****g an entire class in just a few minutes is horrific.

Newsflash: The k**ler was inside for more than an hour. Another newsflash: There is no such thing as a thirty clip magazine. You know absolutely nothing about firearms, do you? I can change out a magazine of wh**ever size in less than five seconds. I can reload a five round shotgun mag nearly as fast. It takes about an hour of practice to be able to do this. (It might take you longer). Put the blame where it belongs. No school officer. Doors unlocked even though the k**ler was outside shooting for more than ten minutes before he walked in through an unlocked door and stayed in there for more than an hour while the cops arrested the parents of the children being murdered.

A real justice system that punishes criminals and has a quick death penalty! These people aren’t afraid! Look at demonrats defunding police and no bail for criminals! Severe punishment dealt quickly!

How about no violent video games or movies! Put that age at 21 to 25

Then raise the age for military service to 21 or 25, because military personnel have REAL assault weapons. Let me ask you a question, and I'm serious; you think that a ban on semi autos or magazines would have prevented this? One. More. Time. The shooter was outside the school shooting for more than ten minutes before he walked into the school unchallenged through an UNLOCKED DOOR. The cops conveniently got there just after he had entered the building, and stood around outside, busily tazing and arresting frantic parents while the k**ler shot their children. For more than an hour these asswipes stood around outside the building, more concerned with arresting frantic parents than exposing their precious asses to danger. The k**ler was inside with a bunch of unarmed kids for more than an hour. How the hell does what kind of rifle he had have any effect? He could have had a single shot rifle or shotgun and k**led just as many. When no one can shoot back, it doesn't matter. You have all the time you need. Why the hell do you think almost every single mass shooting happens in gun free zones?
Then raise the age for military service to 21 or 2... (show quote)
med guards
I h**e the thought of it, but the best solution offered so far seems to be have security at every school - armed guards, locked doors and metal detectors; teachers armed and trained.

A single shot rifle is what the Founding Fathers had in mind when they wrote the second amendment. My question is, where is the line. Do you need a cannon in your yard. Maybe some grenades in case you have an argument with the neighbors. Do we need security at every school, church and grocery store? I mean the kind of security you go through at the airport.

Answering myself: Banning the guns wont help. My last question is the most important.

There was no radio, TV, or internet in existence when the First Amendment was drafted, they were not the "press",

therefore they should enjoy no Constitutional protection either. So much for your feeble attempt at logic.

There are a number of options.

1. Harden school facilities; Kevlar doors and security locks on all doors.
2. Require police departments to register such people as Ramos, with a history of domestic instances with NICS.
3. Find teachers who are gun owners, willing to expand their gun training to response to a school shooter.

To expand on number 2, looking at all mass school shootings, with the exception of Sandy Hook, every single shooter was on police radar. They have the ability/authority to register such individuals with the NICS thus preventing the purchase of a gun through a FFL dealer.

A temporary ban or "AR" style rifles to study the effects would be painless and beneficial. WE know it won't effect anything. Let them put their money where their mouths are on it. Go back and study the time when the AR's were banned, under Biden, it was. Either way, they are going to have to talk about it and not just mouth that it won't help.
