glad you agree that commoditys are the way to go.I have native American relatives who recieve them and they would be hungry without them. I showed them how to make enchiladas with commods as they call them and every one eats hearty. Why throw away food when people can eat. Why give foodstamps to people who will sell them or load up on steaks and junk food. At least with commoditys there is a balanced diet.

Tom,

When I got discharged from the military, I had a problem with getting my unemployment benefits while I looked for work. I filed for them in one state, then moved to another. While waiting on the bureaucracy to catch up with me, my wife and I almost became destitute. We had money coming, just didn't have any idea when we could expect it. I broke down and went to apply for Food Stamps. They asked if we had any children and, I told them no. They came back at me scowling and told me my monthly benefit would be $2.00 each and every month.

I was dumbfounded, blown away really. I told them to just keep it and, give it to somebody who was needier. The Food Stamp program is one of the most abused government programs in this country today. It doesn't make sense to spend the kind of taxpayer money the government does and, just throw away good food?

I guaran-dag-gone-tee that if the government would have given me a can of Beanie Weenies and a hunk of cheese that day, instead of the promise of $2.00 at the start of the next month, I would have been extremely grateful and, my wife and I would have never went to bed hungry that night!

God bless America huh?

Amen brother!

People will see a homeless person in need and, will gladly go buy them a meal. The reason is based in common sense and, we all know the reason. Our government geniuses just send money to an EBT card each month and, trust that a similar person will make good decisions with the taxpayers' money. Children still are malnourished in this country and, many go to bed hungry every night. The liquor store and street drug trade business is quite healthy and, small businesses keep folding in record numbers.

Now if the government would pay a Mom & Pop to distribute commodities to the needy... ? Wonder why the government gurus never thought about that?

I guess the notion of "Win - Win" just escapes them but, when you have never shown charity to a person in need before, you just don't know how to act!

When you're as white as rice Workin', the race card is the joker.

I will probably never forget that pinched faced, old, nasty, white woman who acted like I owed her money when I told her I needed emergency food stamps, because my money was in t***sit and, we haven't eaten in days.

I didn't have an iPhone way back then but, I still got a picture of her. I should have known my request would fall on deaf ears!
