Many Christian churches sponsor activities on this pagan holiday. Of course, they also sponsor activities on Christmas and Easter, two equally pagan holidays that have managed to insert themselves into the Christian ritual. A First Century Christian witnessing a modern day church service would probably deem it a pagan worship ceremony. He wouldn't be too far wrong.
I am still working on the Friday the 13th/31st conundrum. Is that some of that Common Core stuff? Would that make 666 years interchangeable with 999? Does dyslexia function with upside down and inside out, or only back and forth? Decisions, decisions.

If my mind gets lost, I will have to follow it or it may never come back and I was sort of getting attached to it.
I love Halloween. All the little kids dressed in their scariest costumes. I must confess I decorate all the way up my rather long drive. I have witches and ghosts that fly through the trees. For the smaller children the other drive is decorated with Pooh Bears, fairies, and other less frightening characters. The house is always tricked out.
Trooper Jim has already come by to inform me he will be handling the traffic jam that results from my house. I don't think he minds much. The Grand kids take him coffee and homemade sweet rolls all night.
I spend a small fortune on candy. For the Children from my neighborhood, I have candied apples and lots of homemade sweets. The Grand Kids dress up and we fight over who will answer the door.

Fond memories you brought to mind, when we lived in the suburbs. Thank you. My grandchildren would love to trick or treat at your house. Sounds lovely!! Some local churches have "Trunk or Treat". We're way out in the sticks, very few children, and our driveway is 6/10 mile long and it would be a spooky trek down through the trees!!

Ladies, young children, people with heart conditions or, who get nauseous easily... close your eyes.
I have done myself up for Halloween and, scared the bejesus outta myself but, thankfully not the Jesus I might add.
I know this avatar pic is just atrocious, spooky and quite obscene but, I need to find out if it'll cause long-term psychological problems in my trick or treaters if I answer the door looking like this?
I need and value your honest opinions... purty pulease?

I live in a forest. The closest town is 30 miles away. Children get their parents to drive them over. I have two driveways, one is quite long and is for the older children. The other is closer to a fire road for the little ones with their parents.
Our family even back in Great Grandmama's day are famous for our love of Halloween.
