It’s not hard to find people who are ignorant about other people’s beliefs. All you have to do is watch man-in-the street interviews. A good portion of the population is ignorant on a whole host of topics. Even students at some very prestigious universities are more familiar with the latest Kardashian event than with what’s happening with ISIS, or is it ISIL or just IS? I doubt that a majority of them would know the distinctions.

So it shouldn’t be surprising that Liberals don’t have an accurate picture of what conservatives are generally all about.

The following is from Christopher Cook at Western Free Press.

“Are you a conservative, a libertarian, or a Republican? Have you ever been verbally assaulted by someone on the political left with a ferocity you didn’t quite understand? Have you seen it happen to friends and colleagues, or watched in horror as the media establishment does it to a public figure?”

We all have. I find it exhilarating and challenging. It helps me with the articles I write each day and gives me a chance to engage with the misinformation and bring some clarity to an issue.

But there are so people in the liberal camp that are blinding by their own prejudices that they can’t see any view but their own and refuse to be taught otherwise.

Cook mentions a Facebook exchange:

“Republicans h**e anything that isn’t white, wealthy, and Christian at least in appearance. They h**e the poor, women, and minorities. They h**e science and don’t believe that the g****l w*****g we clearly are experiencing is man-made.

“They h**e any government programs that help the poor and minorities, and the particularly despise immigrants, particularly the illegal kind. They love programs that line the pockets of oil companies, mining companies, and are willing to export jobs with wild abandon.

“They h**e public education, and they despise public schools and the public school teachers and public university professors. And since they do not respect the market place of ideas, they h**e tenure (that gives teachers academic freedom) because it prevents them from firing teachers who are Democrats and who might infect some student with their liberal ideas.

“They want insurance companies to make a maximum of profit, and are perfectly willing for the health insurance companies to k**l people by refusing service to anyone that might cost them a buck more than the median expense. They don’t care about clean food because it might cost the food corporation a little money, and they don’t care about clean water because cleaning up the waste will cost their precious corporate persons a little money.”

Any conservative reading the above characterization would be fuming after reading it. I would love to answer each of the charges, but it would take a book to do so. In fact, books have been written debunking these caricatures of conservatives, but the false narrative continues.

Let me quickly give a series of snapshot responses:
1) Conservatives h**e it when liberals use the poor, women, and minorities as political pawns to further the expansion of the State and make them dependent on government.
2) Conservatives love science, that’s why they question the man-made g****l w*****g thesis.
Conservatives don h**e government programs that claim to help the poor and minorities but in reality hurt the power long-term.
3) Conservatives love immigrants because most of us are descendants of immigrants who followed the rules and came here legally.
4) Conservatives oppose i*****l i*********n because they understand that many liberals want to use it to grow the already bankrupt welfare State to empower the Democrat Party.
5) True conservatives despise corporate welfare or what is often called “crony capitalism,” although it has nothing to do with capitalism
6) Oil company profits are paid out to millions of stock holders, many of who are liberals.
Companies would not “export jobs” if the corporate tax rate and excessive regulations weren’t debilitating, thus, making it difficult for American companies to compete with foreign companies.
7) Conservatives who choose to send their children to public schools do not “h**e public education” or “despise public schools and the public school teachers.” They h**e and despise much of what is taught in these schools and what is not taught.
8) Conservatives do respect the “market place of ideas.” That’s why they are often critical of university professors who use tenure as a way often to exclude academic competition by a rehearsal of alternative positions and facts.
9) Insurance companies are generally despised. But we should remember that insurance companies are tightly regulated by government. Our government has often curtailed interstate competition among insurance companies.
10) It’s absurd that Conservatives “don’t care about clean food” or “clean water because cleaning up the waste will cost their precious corporate persons a little money.”

Cook offers a helpful evaluation of the pathology of liberalism of the above type:

“This is not a recitation of facts; it is a series of smears. It is the construction of a giant cartoonish super-villain, made of straw and woven together with calumny. The giant straw villain is then publicly burned, in a narcissistic orgy of self-adulation. Of course, the torches of the ‘best’ people burn the brightest.

“Another way of looking at it is this: It is the modern-day version of a witch trial. The charges are utterly farcical and cartoonish. ‘I saw her dancing with demons in the pale moonlight.’ ‘She looked at me and I sneezed, and the next day, I had a terrible cold.’ ‘She turned me into a newt.’ But they are stated with great conviction and repeated incessantly, and they establish the unassailable collective will of which the accused has run afoul. The witch is made into the auslander[1] and the good people of the community show how ‘good’ they are by shouting their accusations the loudest.”

Liberal pathology is a growing and infectious malady that facts alone cannot fix.

Good post!! Thanks for sharing. Had I been the author I'd not have used the term "liberal" when describing the political left as I don't believe many liberals continue to exist. They have all turned into socialists or c*******ts, or they have simply disappeared.

The political left, no matter what one calls it, is truly mentally deranged. It consists of narcissistic and severely evil tyrants as the end result of their being psychopaths or sociopaths. No one in his right mind can refer to either sociopaths or psychopaths as "normal people" with "normal thinking" because that would be a totally stupid thing to do and would show the speaker to be in bed with the psychopaths.

It is hard for me to imagine that all democrats favor the policies and actions of their "leaders" in DC who are robbing all of us blind with their pathological and insane laws and policies. It won't be long until we live under a tyrannical government equivalent to Fidel Castro's c*******t Cuba. No SANE person could want that, but the political left fights FOR it day in and day out, without ceasing. Is that crazy or is that crazy. I simply cannot believe my neighbors, most of whom are decent people, actually WANT AMERICA to become the same as Cuba or c*******t Russia, yet that is what their politicians are striving for. Oh, they won't call it that, but that's what it is, nevertheless. How can their v**ers possibly elect them in good conscience? By believing the most outrageous lies ever told, THAT'S HOW. The DNC is the devil incarnate, no doubt in my mind about that. I'd as soon live under Vladimir Putin's rule as under Harry Reid's rule, for instance. Actually I think I'd RATHER because Putin comes across as human whereas Reid doesn't. Actually, what I truly want is to live as an American in MY America as I've known it all my life. All changes have been political, and it has reached the point of being an o*******w of our form of government. Since when is o*******wing our form of government LEGAL? I believe it is illegal - so why is no one in authority challenging this takeover? This usurpation of America has happened in broad daylight and without apology. If what we are living under is a REPRESENTATIVE FORM OF GOVERNMENT, I'll eat a lizard. It IS NO LONGER A REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT. IT IS A TYRANNICAL GOVERNMENT THAT SHOULD BE ABOLISHED POST HASTE.

Every good thing that one can possibly perceive as "good" is being attacked and denigrated - this is THE way to destroy a nation, and the political left knows NOTHING more than it knows how to destroy good people and good things. Democrats never attempt to BEST anyone, they only stoop to deliberately DESTROYING everyone who gets in their way. It's logo SHOULD be the grim reaper, not the cute little donkey.

That's my rant for the day. I sincerely hope that if the democrats ever lose control of our government, we deport every one of their sorry asses to some far away island with citizenships revoked. Now THAT is deserving.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying here Steve... Except there is one fault in your presentation... None of these "beliefs" define liberalism. What you are describing is ignorance, which happens on all sides of the spectrum usually in proportion to how extreme a persons "beliefs" are. The particular examples you mention are of course found more commonly on the the side of ignorance that associates itself with liberalism, just like a lot of ignorant people associate themselves with conservatism.

For an equivalent list of stupid reasons to h**e liberals all anyone has to do is read ANY of your posts... or anything Tasine has posted. I've seen both of you writhing with hatred for what you call liberals, or Muslims, or socialists, or homosexuals or wh**ever else your mind controller tell you to h**e. And then you try and "intellectualize" your ignorance - funniest stuff I've ever seen.

I realized many years ago in the hippie days that the left was just a bunch of godless degenerates believing what they wanted to believe and full of rationalizations to justify their selfishness, narcissism, immorality and lack of responsibility. All this subversive Marxist propaganda sure fits their needs and makes it easy for them as it is designed not only to give power to government (which at that time was the authority they claimed to h**e) but also to make them selves feel better, finer, more noble and caring about themselves while instilling hatred for conservatives and their values.

Deliberate ignorance describes them perfectly !!! ------- Basically I would say I don't harbor much h**e for any of these people, but I certainly do for their ideologies and the disastrous consequences of it. I consider all human beings to be my brothers by virtue of being fellow human beings, and mostly have pity for the misguided, wanting only to bring them to the light. For God's sake they and their fellow ideologues are the biggest victims of their own ideologies. In the case of gays, I am without animosity towards them but think that gay marriage is a very bad and asinine idea. The reason is because fatherless children is a recipe for criminality and maybe the biggest problem in America today. Marriage is therefore sacred because it is the founding block upon which civilization and a nation is built. Therefore you don't defile and degrade marriage by using it to "Sanctify" Butt Fucking. Go ahead and give them the same advantages as the married but call it gay union or something, not marriage.

I think liberals have gotten the rotten end of the stick because the progressives stole your handle and have mutilated it. I try to not refer to "liberals" because it's the progs causing the problems, NOT true liberals. However, that said, the liberal who continues h*****g with the progs is fair game because he has abandoned his liberal philosophy. It says he agrees with the progs. The progs are simply socialists who find the monikers "liberal" and "progressive" sound more sane than calling themselves what they are: un-American c*******ts. Liberalism is a very wide definition that generally means "to liberate", which is the opposite to conservative, another very broad brush stroke that generally means "to conserve" in other words to keep things the way they are.

So in the most basic sense... Liberals promote change and conservatives oppose change.

If you want to get any more specific you have to start using other terms like progressive, which was originally a Republican concept devised to defeat the socialist revolution by making enough concessions with the working class to take the wind out of the sails of revolution while preserving ownership (the target of socialism). Of course the progressive solution has since been relegated to the Democrats.

It's a confusing world these days and it's far easier to subscribe to the temper tantrums of liberal and conservative soap boxers alike. Also, there is the problem we suffer from as a culture where we tend to identify ourselves not through definition but through association.

We h**e conservatives not because of what they stand for but because of what an ass Rush Limbaugh is and we know he's a conservative so by association all conservatives are ignorant assholes like Rush. OR we h**e liberals because Michael Moore is a contentious liberal, so all liberals must be like him. It's association and that's why we loose definition.

I recognize that Steve isn't alone... He is very much like some liberals I know... different examples of ignorance of course but basically doing the same thing with them and if Steve was one of them, my reaction would have been the same.
