The Bible tells us to PURSUE PEACE with all, not to have foolish disputes with one another. One thing for sure, we may now see through a glass darkly however, one day we all shall see the truth clearly. Then and only then will the Father of truth decide who is right and who is wrong. Why waste time trying to see who is smarter, wiser, or more powerful? No one can deny what John 3:16 says. It is a shame to dispute in front of people who may be on the verge of believing in God.

I, respectively, disagree. This is not a foolish dispute……The deity of Jesus Christ and the Trinity consisting of God the Father, Jesus His Son, and the Holy Spirit! The acceptance of who Jesus is and what His death accomplished, along with the truth of the Trinity, is the difference between heaven and hell. If a person is on the verge of believing in God it is imperative that they accept Jesus Christ as their Savior, fully man and fully God, that He was born, died on the cross, and resurrected 3 days later….His death and resurrection paid the price for our sins.

Christian quotes about Jesus being God

“Jesus is the only God who has a date in history.”

“Jesus Christ God’s Son died for me. Jesus rose from the grave for me, Jesus represents me, Jesus is for me. Jesus will raise me when I die. Your gods body or your religious body that you worship is still in the grave for he or she is not God. Only Jesus God’s Son is God. Worship Him.

“Jesus was God in the form of man. That’s hard for people to swallow that, even today, that “He was God.” That’s what He was. He wasn’t nothing less than God. He was God manifested in flesh.”

“If Jesus is not God, then there is no Christianity, and we who worship Him are nothing more than idolaters. Conversely, if He is God, those who say He was merely a good man, or even the best of men, are blasphemers. More serious still, if He is not God, then He is a blasphemer in the fullest sense of the word. If He is not God, He is not even good.” J. Oswald Sanders

“We tend to focus our attention at Christmas on the infancy of Christ. The greater truth of the holiday is His deity. More astonishing than a baby in the manger is the truth that this promised baby is the omnipotent Creator of the heavens and the earth!” John F. MacArthur

“If Jesus Christ is not true God, how could he help us? If he is not true man, how could he help us?” — Dietrich Bonhoeffer

“Jesus Christ is God in human flesh, and the story of His life, death, and resurrection is the only Good News the world will ever hear.” Billy Graham

“Either Jesus is the Son of God ; or a madman or worse. But His being just a great teacher? He’s not left that open to us.” C.S. Lewis

“The deity of Christ is the key doctrine of the scriptures. Reject it, and the Bible becomes a jumble of words without any unifying theme. Accept it, and the Bible becomes an intelligible and ordered revelation of God in the person of Jesus Christ.” J. Oswald Sanders

“Only by being both deity and humanity could Jesus Christ bridge the gap between where God is.” — David Jeremiah

“To see what God is like, we must look at Jesus. He perfectly represents God to men in a form which they can see and know and understand.” — William Barclay

“Touching His human nature, Jesus is no longer present with us. Touching his Divine nature, He is never absent from us.” — R.C. Sproul

“God’s nature is revealed most perfectly in the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, as recorded in the New Testament of the Bible, who was sent by God to reveal the divine nature, summarized in ‘God is Love.’” — George F. R. Ellis

What a sad display of confusion and blind adherence to tradition. Where does scripture say any of that nonsense?

I stand by all of my comments and Zemirah’s scriptural proof of the deity of Jesus and the Trinity. There is no “blind adherence to tradition” or a “sad display of confusion” …………just scriptural proof and guidance of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Godhead.

I can’t imagine anyone of accusing the quotes of, David Jeremiah, C S Lewis, John MacArthur, R C Sproul, and Billy Graham, as “nonsense”……….each one a respected man of God!

This conversation is over for me……I’ve accomplished what I set out to do!

John 1:1……….In the beginning was the Word (Jesus), and the Word (Jesus) was with God, and the Word (Jesus) was God

John 20:28………….And Thomas answered and said unto Him (Jesus) My Lord and my God.

Romans 10:9-10………That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Christianity is about Salvation, obtainable only through faith in Jesus Christ.

"How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by 1) the Lord [Jesus], and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, 2) God [the Father] also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of 3) the Holy Spirit, according to His [Holy Spirit's] own will?" (Hebrews 2:3-4)

The Triune God who created the universe decided this to be right before a word of it was written. as it is the theme of the entire Bible, Genesis through Revelation.

This is not a dispute among Christians. "Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus." (1st Peter 5:14)

It is in compliance with Jude 1:3 that the Christians on this thread contend earnestly for the faith entrusted once for all to the saints against those who 1) deny that Jesus is God, and 2) deny that God has revealed Himself to be a Triune Godhead composed of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

They all defy the meaning of John 3:16.

No one can believe in God until they accept God's revelation of Himself. No one can come to a saving faith in Jesus without first understanding Jesus' identity.

“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:14)

This is my point. I agree with all the above. Jesus gave His disciples a shake the dust option if they were not received concerning His Word and teaching. WHY CONTINUE TO CAST YOUR PEARLS BEFORE THE SWINE?

I sense the pride entering into this thread. It’s really ugly.
It’s simple, in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. See?
Simple.

Marty, the insidious evil in this thread was inserted at its inception. Every Christian must make their own decision as to whether they will obey Jude 3: "contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered unto the saints."

This is not something to ignore on an internet forum where silence is too often understood to be complicity or at a minimum tacit agreement:

"there is one Christmas myth which is much more insidious — the incarnation. I’m sure everyone would agree that this is a much more serious matter and that this tradition, if not founded upon reality, could have a deleterious affect upon those who believe it. This is the idea that God Himself entered the womb of a young Jewish virgin and took to himself human flesh, and thus being born as a baby. Hence, Jesus just is God the Creator walking about in a human body. This is such a long-standing tradition, so ingrained into the thinking of Christianity, that the validity of it is never questioned by most Christians."
