Putin doesn't want to invade Ukraine. Putin justifiably doesn't want NATO to continually grow right up to Russia's border and essentially strangle Russia. These expansions have long been an aggression towards Russia. That old war is over, and it is NATO that won't stop fighting it, at least to the extent of trying to cut off Russia from the West. Current Russia's only threat to Europe, the purpose of NATO, is economically. Open markets limit those threats. More pipelines from the Middle East and Russia help to open markets.

NATO has long been an in your face threat to Russia. Russia's interest in taking Ukraine would be as a buffer against NATO's expansion, which is totally unnecessary. That was also part of the reasons behind the taking of Crimea. And also of strong consideration is that Crimea has a very large ethnic Russian population. As does Eastern Ukraine. Russia has legitimate interests in protecting these people. That is one reason for supporting those in the Ukraine conflicts.

One must also consider that Ukraine had a list of rulers of questionable integrity or value to the Ukraine people Corrupt. But thy were v**ed in. Then the West supported and aided a c**p that threw out a leader who was close to Russia, and installed a leader who would be close to the West. This was a threat to Russia and initiated Russia's action. The West doesn't have clean hands here.

As for a conference between Putin and biden, it is like a chess master playing a once a week casual player of no discernible talent, losing his ability to think or even talk in reasonable logical streams. In a fair duel of wits, Putin would eat biden's lunch.

Remember when President Trump talked to Kim Jong-un, little rocket man. I have bigger rockets. Well, Russia can match the USA on Rockets, so we don't want to go there. All biden can do is threaten sanctions, and winter is coming, and Russia has oil and natural gas, and NATO needs oil and natural gas.

The danger of a Russian "invasion" here is practically a non issue, and just more media fear mongering.

Putin is a pissant bully. We have states with bigger economies than Russia’s and a military that puts theirs to shame. Their only aircraft carrier had to be towed home from its last mission. Putin doesn’t have video of Biden receiving golden showers from hookers to blackmail him with. We can cripple their economy with sanctions and freeze the assets and end travel of the oligarchs that shore up Putin’s regime so they turn on him. It would also do good to provide Ukrainian forces with anti aircraft and anti armor weapons along with signal intelligence. Don’t worry we are far better off with Biden’s leadership than Putin’s pathetic lapdog Trump.

Thank you and I do appreciate your observation, especially because of your closeness to the issue at hand.

One of my earlier, much earlier, thoughts on the Russian/Ukraine situation was back during the c**p. And even earlier, And Crimea. My thoughts were, 'What would I do if I were in Putin's position?' I might do many of the same things. He took over Russia right after the fall of the U.S.S.R. He is a Russian. That is his country. They just lost the cold war. Save face? Fortify Russia? And then try to make Russia a major player and successful nation for the people. As I understand it, there was some sort of agreement to not extend NATO beyond Germany absorbing East Germany. Well, now it is one nation away from knocking on Russia's door and setting up missile sites inside Ukraine near Russia's border. We're at peace. There is no war going on between Russia and the U. S.

I believe that the Warsaw Pact nations should have stayed intact as a huge buffer between Russia and NATO. Then the U. S. should have slowly dropped out of NATO and let a Western European NATO and an old Warsaw Pact Eastern European bloc and Russia, iron out their own problems without the U. S. sticking their nose into everything.
