The part I haven't heard yet- Automation. Price yourself out of the market and a machine will have your job at $0 an hour.
Ordering kiosks, burger flipping machines, credit card payments, soon no humans needed.
Reality. No weeping.

As for Denmark , people pay an average of 45% tax rate combined.

As for McDonald’s paying 20 bucks an hour….Cost of a McMeal:
Switzerland….$16.37
Norway….$14.36
Denmark…$11.74
U S…………..$8.00

Strongly suggest you get the facts before you set off down that Yellow Brick Road of all would be well if only the U S would increase the minimum wage! Better yet, why don’t you move to Denmark and let us know how it works out!!!! I am sure they would welcome you with open arms! Just some facts and commentary.

And they always show up on time, never need a break, and aren't continually complaining about wages, working conditions or problems with other employees. Those of you who have never hired employees wouldn't understand that which is exactly where most Democrats seem to be.

McDonalds has already started that in some places. I rarely eat there, but was traveling a while back and they had the kiosk (in a small, rural town). Worked well, lot shorter wait.

wt, I don't know about you, but around here there are lots of jobs offering far less. Lawn maintenance guys are offering 10 dollars an hour. Thats for working hard all day in the Carolina heat. In the Fall, they make nothing because there is no or little work to do. Many business are now offering more, because nobody is willing to work for less.
Why not offer a minimum wage starting at fifteen bucks an hour?

Read my previous posts regarding minimum wage if you seriously want the answer to your question.
Why not let the market determine the wage rate for any given task?

I’m also in South Carolina. I’d like the name of the person for the $10 per hour lawn care. On the very rare occasion that I do hire someone, it’s usually about $25 - $30 per hour. Charged by the one or two persons doing the work, who are both self employed. Money directly into their pocket.

In my area of Texas (NW of Austin) landscape worker/helpers get $20-$25 per hour, cash paid daily. It is a challenge for operators to get and keep good help even at those rates. Last week I had my operator with one helper work 8 hours on my irrigation (shovels, root saws, rock chisels, hands and knees, bald ass sun). He charged me $400 plus parts. They did another job down the street the same day...... hard happy workers and customers.

My husband worked 3 jobs for a while and I, as a nurse, worked 2 jobs...I worked 12 days in a row to get the week-end off, only to start again. Neither of us did this FOREVER, but 6 months or a year can get you WAY ahead,

...or get more education to warrant a better wage....OR....you could go back to school to get a degree to babysit 3yos like barely-there-biden wants

I recently went thru the drive thru at Wendy's. My meal was $1.52. I usually have the correct/exact amount but that day I didn't, so I gave the girl $2.02. First she told me THANK YOU and expected me to leave (She knows I usually have the exact money). I reminded her she owed me change...she gave me 46 cents?!?!?!?

She has worked the window for YEARS and you want her to be payed $15 an hour?????

Well, JR, you are exactly right on minimum wages! I have been preaching this for years but nobody seems to believe me or is interested enough to take the time to read up on the economics of the minimum wage. Much has been written by notable economists such as Milton Friedman, Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams and many, many more. There are some good reasons that politicians still push the MW, not the least of which is that it resonates with a good portion of their constituents who are, in many cases, too uneducated or too lazy to be educated in true economics. The MW is like wetting the bed - it gives instant relief but sooner or later you realize the true effects and you have to get up and do something about it. The t***h about the MW is that it hurts the very people it is supposed to help. It causes ultimate unemployment in the lower income ranges because it causes employers to look for other means to lower costs, such as automation or hiring i*****l a***ns. It's just that it takes time for some of this to occur and in the meantime the lower end workers feel they are getting somewhere when they aren't. Many of us at some time were on that end of the employment scale when we were working our way through school in an effort to gain sk**ls that would help us get better paying jobs. The MW was never intended to provide a living wage, only to provide some compensation for jobs which are low at producing value. If an employer is required to pay $15 for a job that returns him only $7, what do you think his options are. Is he a jerk if he refuses to simply take money out of his pocket to make up the difference? Can you see where inflation is going to ensue thus further hurting the lower end of the wage scale. If we think the garbage being pushed through right now isn't going to land hard, we need to take a closer look at history.
