Surplus funds in the Social Security Trust Fund are invested in Special Issue Government Bonds. Interest earned on this investment has helped keep SS funds solid. This trump clown has done tremendous damage to social security to hinder how it does their jobs.

Social security funds have been raided for other purposes besides their intended use for decades, both parties are guilty. The GOP has repeatedly gunned for funding over spending by tapping social security, the opposing party has been guilty of capitulating to get what they want.

Furthermore it is no secret that the GOP has taken some very serious hard runs at privatizing the social security system and it's reserves, Wallstreet has long coveted having control of those funds, which they would without a doubt make disappear as soon as the stock market took a downturn.

To understand the moves that need to be made to help stabilize social security would take a better understanding of how it has been undermined and attacked the last 20 years or so.
