Maybe call ur local shelter or vet for advice

I did and they said IF abandoned you have to wait a month before you can move the nest.. Thats the 2 week gestation and 2 weeks incubation period by momma bird..Then you can clear it out... WTH????

They will not come out for eggs...If babies they would but we have to wait... Not letting them get hurt.. Momma and daddy are both around adding to the nest, momma nesting them altho they do both leave and come back ....

I as well, just thought it worth mentioning.
Wouldn't want her locked up for nest relocation.

It would be forever known by Libs as the crime of the century.

Well, my son finally got a picture of Mom nesting... Just thought I’d share it..

Gave him everyone’s suggestions too and thinking the box moving gradually is what he’s leaning towards... The one from the video as I sent it to him.. Headed out to a feed store in search of an open cage large enough for mon and dad to do their thing~~starting out with slowly moving it on truck then down to the ground and through out the day to a more secure location or he may just leave right where it is... Snow expected Tuesday so he’s doing all this between today and tomorrow if he moves it at all..??

So he’s named her Ms. Mess for picking his truck..... lolol

A mourning dove, right??

The thing about vets and local shelters is they don't really know much about animal husbandry. Especially shelters.

Its not a smart place to make a nest. If you leave it there then it may not learn and could do the same thing again. I would move it - after checking to see what others have done.

There’s nothing sweeter than the soft cooing sound of a dove when the morning is waking up! When I was growing up I thought it was a Morning Dove...........Made sense to me! 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

So true about the shelters or even the wildlife preserve I called after.. They seemed more concerned about abandonment even tho I told them what I’ve shared here.. They then said just leave where it is mom will know what to do and dad will handle defense... So torn because any prey could easily get to them... My son and girlfriend playing rough rider protector (as he said)while home but when he leaves for school/work, then what??

I talked to them a bit ago and think they are going to follow the video idea.. Has a box and got a cage large enough for plenty of room.. Just not going to move it from its present location putting cage on his truck so they are sheltered at least..we will move the nest into it with the eggs untouched.. That way when learning to fly they will still be protected inside something that will be their known home... At least thats his present thoughts.. He laughed knowing Mom wants “ grandchildren” sometime this lifetime saying I’m about to become a birdie grandma~~ Oh the fun...🤗

You said almost exactly why I thought Morning Dove.. When I went over to my sons’ we could hear it/them cooing.. We have always called them Morning Doves too, lololol... I saw mom or dad in the tree right beside his driveway but not clearly...😊 Something else~~ I always thought that was their true name too... shhhhhhhh, don't tell either...

BTW~~to all mothers

Help please-~

So my son finds a nest with one egg and a few days later a second egg, right on his Truck.. See pictures.. He uses his car most of the time but has his truck too.. He doesn’t want to disturb it but in two weeks needs to help his friend move..

Dilemma~What should we do?? I think its a nest from a Mourning Dove?? Not sure tho? Concerned the sun beating down on the windshield will get too hot too?

Can we safely move it to say a tree close to the driveway? Or will the parents reject it?? I told my son if we use gloves and maybe put it in a handing basket in the tree all will be well.. Or he leaves it until they hatch and rent a truck to help his friend.. But we don’t know what will happen if we move it??

Any idea’s??
Help please-~ br br So my son finds a nest with o... (show quote)

No suggestions, but good luck wh**ever you two decide to do.
