Your reasoning that Walmart should because it is the largest is fallacious. What if the employees don't want it? You don't have to shop there. It is people who have thought processes like your that need unions to think for them.

Raydan. It appears you have been letting union thugs think for you. It shows and it is not pretty.

I think we can assume your IQ is < 70!

The union's problem with Walmart has always been that the workers are allowed to v**e with secret v**es. They just don't think they can share their paltry wages (as the leaners call them) with any union bosses. I love to hear the unions whine about the way that management keeps them from v****g to unionize.

Yes, you are right. Unions DID help build the middle class ... and now they are effectively destroying the middle class while building the number of unemployed and disenfranchised. Unions have out-lived their usefulness.

WHO SHOULD THEY HAVE LAYED OFF, THE GUY WITH 24 YEARS SENIORTY?

It would have depended on quality of work if the union hadn't been involved. You really do believe that the union is not just running the business but actually owning it.

And exactly how did the unions "build" the middle class? By reducing profits for the entrepreneur? By forcing other citizens to pay more for the same quality of product that was made before the union secured representation at a factory? By shutting down production and forcing the closing of companies with a long history of providing employment?

Yeah, I can see how the unions really "built" the middle class.

My father was a union guy for years, through strikes, through shift changes, through assessments. Then he got laid off, not because of his work quality or quantity, but simply because he was the most junior man in his department -- after all he ONLY had 22 years seniority.

He went to work within a few months at a non-union firm, got a huge increase in salary and benefits, and was able to move the family into a much nicer home which certainly made my mother happier. So again, tell me again all about how unions "built" the middle class.
And exactly how did the unions "build" t... (show quote)

Aw Jim I wonder why the first reply from the union sympathizer failed to mention your last paragraph. Not really, since I know why THEY work so hard on what they want and believe and always try to avoid the good parts of the story.

Perhaps I can help your comprehension of what Jim posted, because the everyone here knows you totally missed the point!

It was not about his father's layoff, except indirectly. It was the fact upon obtaining a new job with a non union employer his father's salary changed for the BETTER. It was the fact with the new non union employer the family's circumstances IMPROVED.

Recap, Jim's father's ability to provide for his family IMPROVED WHEN BEING EMPLOYED BY A NON UNION EMPLOYER.

Some people just can't see it when others talk about how good getting away from the union was for the worker. They manage to ignore those words they can't use to further their agenda.
