I do not believe people should be able to commit crimes with guns and retain their freedom or right to legally purchase a gun--that is just common sense. I have no problem with background checks because I know I can pass one.
The nutcases among us have brought us to the point where gun control is constantly brought up. So maybe people who have mental problems and anti government issues should have no right to a gun and should be locked up for the safety of society if they commit crimes with guns. People with no issues should still be able to own firearms for pleasure or for hunting as they are not the problem. Can you argue with that?

Ahhhh there it is!

This is called c*********d and also an encroachment the founders warned of by trading freedom, rights, liberties and declarations for a false security!

Would you like me to continue?

Go on I don't care. I am secure in my manhood and I am not afraid I will lose my guns because I won't.

.

Indeed I can argue with that.

What is a ‘mental problem’? I have known doctors and psychologists who believe if you want to own a gun then you have a ‘mental problem’.

How does one get a diagnosis of a ‘mental problem’? What ‘issues’ would disqualify one for gun ownership?

Arrests for domestic violence and assaults come to mind in fact it will disqualify you from a firearms purchase here in my state. Self defense is not a disqualifier.

The second amendment won't ever be repealed and I am positive of that

"Arrests for domestic violence"? I have a problem with that. Being arrested does not mean one is guilty of anything. It means someone has accused a person of something. This is America where you are brought to trial to determine innocence/guilt.

Being convicted of felony assault is already grounds for failing the current background checks.

However my questions/comments were regarding determining one's mental capacities - not actual crimes.

I pray you’re right, but all patches they’re trying to pass are threatening encroachments, PERIOD.

They must be stopped.

Not repealed no, but states can impose their own laws as long as it does not violate the right to own...what violates is still at issue and always will be.

The SCOTUS has already ruled accordingly..

You know the Heller case~~

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/District_of_Columbia_v._Heller

This is Cali no less and look what their court ruled on large capacity firearms..

A federal appeals court in California on Friday ruled that the state’s ban on large-capacity firearm magazines is unconstitutional under the Second Amendment, notching a significant precedent in favor of gun rights.

A divided three-judge panel of the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals struck down a 3-year-old ban on magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition.

The ruling, which affirmed a lower-court decision, marked the first time a federal appeals court struck down a state limit on magazine size. And it came from an appeals court with the largest jurisdiction in the country.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/u-s-appeals-court-strikes-down-california-ban-on-high-capacity-gun-magazines-11597443336

And then the McDonald case.~~
In McDonald v. City of Chicago, the Supreme Court held in a 5–4 ruling that the Second Amendment applies to state and local governments in addition to the federal government. While Chicago’s complete handgun ban was overturned, the Court reiterated in McDonald that a wide variety of state and local gun laws are constitutionally permissible.

Kemmer, maybe you will be surprised to find out that the Gun Control act of 1968 is an exact word for word copy of the Gun Control act of 1935 in Germany signed by Adolf Hitler. It was brought into this country by Senator Tom Dodd of Connecticut. The Democrats have been trying to take total control of the USA since they lost the Civil war. AR15's will be needed if ever We the People are called upon to take back a oppressive government from tyrants. Until then, they are used for target shooting, hunting and self defense. Please read the Constitution and have someone explain the word "infringe" to you. Down through history the only people that have banned weapons have been monarchs, c*******ts and F*****ts. We don't have monarchs it the USA, so which of the other groups do you fall under. Please let me know.

True confirmed and determined by a Competency board or professional I agree with...

As for anti-government I guess I would ask you for a definition of what you mean by that. I mean after all we do have the right to defend ourselves against Tyranny, do we not?

Seems then that it would be a poor choice for humans as well. If you compare body mass, and weight of deer, and humans, they're not far apart.

The fact is that you guys have no reasonable argument against the AR-15 other than the way it looks.
OK, ban 30 round mags. It's still the same gun.

Great point!
