There is a lot of hostility between the traditional conservative wing of the Republican Party, and the Retrumplicans. The number of Republicans is shrinking because many traditional Republicans are leaving the GOP. Some are becoming independents, others are joining the Democratic Party.
If this trend continues, The Republican Party will become a permanent minority party made up of the kind of folks that breached the Capitol.
What can be done to increase the number of Republicans?

Got any cites to back up the claim some are joining the democrat party? I would be interested in that.

"What can be done to increase the number of Republicans?"

The 'Trump R*******n' occurred because the 'traditional' Republican Party pretty much failed to support the average American. Their 'lose with dignity' attitude is not popular. Americans want their Congress critters to fight for them and common sense initiatives. It occur periodically - that's the reason the Tea Party came into being. And the 'Contract with America' also resonated with people.

What is wrong with you? You're safe to say that here, in public it would garner a throat punch from the ones you slander so often... and at this point due to your insanely over the top comments.... it would be deserved since you keep asking for it.

Remenber, what comes around..... always comes back around

They need to purge their nut job hard right element by proving they can be a part of a functioning government that isn't about obstruction on every front.

I assume you are asking what can be done to increase the number of "traditional" Republicans and not the "Retrumplicans".

That's a good question. I was listening to NPR interviewing a Republican senator yesterday (can't remember which one he was) and he was saying the GOP is basically divided between the "populists Republicans" on one hand and the "governing Republicans" on the other (his words).

I can see that... The governing Republicans are the ones that more or less know what they are doing and they have been driving the GOP since Nixon. Even THEY don't agree on everything, the neocons like GWB for instance pushed for neoliberal globalization while paleoconservatives like Pat Buchanan argued for a more isolationist agenda, but they nevertheless worked together. On the other hand the populist faction operates like a band of selfish children. When they took over the House in 2010, they declared that they will NOT work with the president and they even caused a government shutdown. This was the House I will always refer to as the Children of the Corn.

We can find similar rifts in the Democratic Party but the more extreme factions aren't getting the same traction on the Democrat side as they are on the Republican side. The moderates have far more control of their party on the left.

Maybe it's time to stop looking at politics as a competition between Democrats and Republicans and start looking at it as a struggle between moderates (in both parties) which I would call the new conservative faction and the radicals in both parties.

I know at least five people that say they have left the GOP. In time this number will grow. Patriotic Republicans don't want to be associated with s******n.

Again.... you are so blind to not see you have the same issue with fringe freak elements in your party with the hard left l**ters and r****rs, or just deliberately ignore it because its the fringe left you are a partisan s***e to Condoned by you and the local government it appears.... hows seattle and portland doing? Are those hard right nut jobs still tearing the place apart and attacking a federal building? Again? That means it aint the first time.

Love how you continually project the failings you own onto others. .... where im from, that's called lying.

They will always overplay their hand. If what the two dummies say was true Pelosi wouldn't be trying to push through that ridiculous bill changing e******n law. She wants the most convoluted e******n laws in California to be adopted country wide. Even calls for lowering of the v****g age, to 16 or seventeen. We all know why. These are the same hypocrites that hollered states determine their e******n laws when it comes to e******ns, before the e******n.
