What you just said was exactly what we have to look forward to for the next four years. Biden claims to be a devout Catholic, so I wonder when was the last time he went to confession? At least he was recently denied Communion because he believed in choice when it came to a******ns. Bet he will fund Planned Parenthood with no problem.

And you want to bring religion into that context by calling out Biden's faith? Biden has more faith than trump ever thought of having because trump has none. Trump never went to church because his attention span wouldn't allow it, having to sit there for an hour without talking about himself and his greatness? No way.

But Woodguru, we have to do this now before we are assigned our Re-education Camps!

Parkey, Give Biden a break, He isn't in office for a few hours and you condemn him for some kind of religious reason. Personally, I believe that Thomas Jefferson was right to want a wall between church and state. Trump was an evil SOB sociopath, while Biden appears to be a man of deep faith.

Saltwind 78, I gave President Biden the benefit of the doubt from his “unity” speech at noon yesterday until he showed his true self in signing those EOs that not only weaken the country physically by giving free reign to all i******s who have come in from November through the next 100 days. What P******c? And his morality as shown by signing an EO allowing men in restrooms with eight year old girls. How immoral can you get?

A person's faith in Jesus is a personal matter and the Holy Bible is just another book like the Quran or any of the other scripts from primitive times when people relied on fantasies to explain nature.

Yes, Joe Biden is Catholic and unlike the "Christian" Right, Catholics tend to keep Jesus in their hearts rather than shouting his name out as political slogans and ramming their "faith" down everyone's throats. So it's no surprise that Biden didn't publically make a production out of how Christian he is by thanking Jesus for everything. I'm sure in his heart, he already did and this is why Jesus doesn't need the announcement. Jesus can hear our private prayers and gratitudes just fine. So really, the ONLY point to all that Jesus talk at the political podium is to use Jesus as political sponsor.

We don't need America to be Christian. We just need America to be decent and just. People can help America achieve that by acting like decent and just people and there are lots of way to learn how to do that whether you take your lessons from the Bible, the Quran, the Torah or just figure it out on your own.

America has ALWAYS been a secular nation. It's one of the things that has made our Republic such a beacon in the past. We have the freedom of religion. That doesn't mean America is "free to be Christian", it means Americans can practice any religion they like.

Personally, I think politicians should stop thumping the Bible... President's didn't even do that until Nixon re-discovered how useful religion is for justifying politics and every president since has leveraged the Christian faith as a political weapon. It's BS. I much prefer a president who can thank Jesus in his heart and make politics about the people.

What I hear you saying, Straight Up, is that you don't see Christianity as being true but you're not quite sure but rather than explore further you would like to be left alone. I have never understood the "Don't ram it down my throat philosophy." All one has to do is say, "I'm not interested in your beliefs." Is that so hard to say? An analogy I've heard expressed is someone who has a deadly disease and a friend has a cure for it but won't reveal it to the sufferer. Not really a friend, huh. Well, that's the way a true Christian believer feels. He doesn't believe as you do that all religions are the same. Is it any more unreasonable to ask you to consider his faith than it is ask him to accept your non-faith? You may not agree with my analogy but that's OK. You don't have to. You may live in this Country and enjoy it as much as I do. We are seeing so much these days of factions not only believing in their philosophy but insisting that those who disagree with them not be silent but accept their views or be destroyed. That's not how this Country was founded; the First Amendment of The Constitution guarantees that. Maybe some are not in agreement with that. They want it for themselves but not for those who do not agree with them.

You're quite right and if you would bother to unbiasedly assess what is being advocated by Christians you would find that you are twisting the t***h, a pastime which is so normal for Democrats to do these days. One thing that really sticks in my craw is the penchant for liberals who have no interest in anything conciliatory, to be accusing those who do, of exactly what they themselves are pushing.

I was a church going Christian all my life. Here's what I see Christians doing. Complaining that we have taken Christ out of Christmas. "Happy Holidays" is acknowledging that other religious groups are celebrating their faith on different days. How would you like it if I came to your house and spoke only to the women and ignored the men. I see Christians claiming a tax exemption even though they may be raking in thousands every week. I see Christians refusing to serve people because their beliefs are different from their own. I saw Christians claiming Trump as a Savior. Claiming they are pro-life but doing nothing about executions or children in cages.
You want to tell me what wonderful things Christians are advocating?

Not k*****g the unborn. Being nice to one another. Helping the poor. Combatting evil. Stopping crime. Arresting criminals. Upholding our Constitution. Obeying laws. Staying healthy. Eliminating r****m. Eliminating Divorce. Loving your neighbor as yourself. Wait a minute .... I think most people think of these things as worthy goals. Don't they? I think the problem often arises as to differences in the way we want to achieve these goals. Maybe we should add tolerance to that list. Of course you might select something from that list and say, "Whoa, why do Christians do such and such if that's what they want." Some of us just can't stand to have our ideas trampled on and our motives twisted. Come to think of it, I think we could all stand to walk in the other guy's shoes.

StraightUp, I actually agree with most of your well written article. I really wish we would stop using God, Jesus and the Bible to try and justify various political points. Of course this nation was founded in Western Judo-Christian philosophy and it has worked very well for 244 years, but our Founders were very careful to keep government and religion separate. It is not possible to know what is in God’s “mind” so please, everyone, what God is up to.
