And I say that it can be called something other than Western arrogance. This same mentality is found throughout the world.

I have been around the world - lived in Europe for 4 years, spent a couple of years in the Orient.
It may be more 'subtle' in other places, but it's there. It's human nature.

The Americans who are most arrogant, as I see it, are not the tourists but the ex-pats who make their homes in foreign countries. They become arrogant toward the American occasional traveler/tourist. Have you ever been to France? Americans living in France are the worst. I think they feel embarrassed and ashamed of American tourists. The French are not nearly as judgmental. I've seen a similar pattern in other countries, not all, but in several. In some instances, the Americans who live in other countries seem to try very hard to go along to get along. This is also true for many other nationalities as well.
