Amun (also Amon, Ammon, Amen) is the ancient Egyptian god of the sun and air. He is one of the most important gods of ancient Egypt who rose to prominence at Thebes at the beginning of the period of the New Kingdom (c. 1570-1069 BCE). He is usually depicted as a bearded man wearing a headdress with a double plume or, after the New Kingdom, as a ram-headed man or simply a ram, symbolizing fertility in his role as Amun-Min. His name means "the hidden one," "invisible," "mysterious of form," and unlike most other Egyptian gods, he was considered Lord of All who encompassed every aspect of creation.
Amun (also Amon, Ammon, Amen) is the ancient Egypt... (show quote)

You're REALLY grasping at straws moldy.

So what is your point? Are you implying that when we say "amen" at the end of a prayer, or when someone else ends a prayer, we are contemplating the Egyptian god of the sun and the air?

Are you saying that when bahmer says "amen and amen" when someone posts a comment that he agrees with, that he is talking about the Egyptian sun and air god???

Are you implying that the female Egyptian god of the sun and the air is "Awomen"??

Was Emanuel Cleaver invoking those gods?? Sounds kind of blasphemous to me....

Rep. Guy Reschenthaler ended the opening prayer for the 117th Congress by saying ‘Amen and Awomen’ !
Either he’s a complete i***t or an absolute moron. Either way, he’s an embarrassment to the whole nation.

That’s because they have no clue about God! Mocking God will get you a fiery seat in hell!

So your cultural appropriation has nothing to do with Cleaver's usage of "awomen"? You're just pontificating about Egyptian sun gods out of the blue?? Right.

Look this is a ridiculous argument. First off, Amen (Hebrew: אָמֵן, 'ʾāmēn'; Greek: ἀμήν, 'amín'; Arabic: آمین, 'āmīn; Aramaic/Syriac: ܐܵܡܝܼܢ, 'ʾāmīn') is an Abrahamic declaration of affirmation first found in the Hebrew Bible, and subsequently in the New Testament. It is used in Jewish, Christian and Islamic worship, as a concluding word, or as a response to a prayer. Common English t***slations of the word amen include "verily", "truly", and "so be it". It is also used colloquially, to express strong agreement.

Now this is the origin of the word. Now people that make fun of the sexist ideologies of both sides will use the pun, "Awomen" or "Awoman". This is a trolling effect to provoke a response of either side. Why can't we laugh at the pun, rather than take it as anything else than a pun on words?

If one has a problem with words being used, in any manner, when the words are used as a pun, then we have a very serious psychological problem with this society. Seriously, the best form of medicine is usually humor, and if we can't do puns on the simple, then what do we do when it gets more complex? Both sides, the liberals and the conservatives need to stop and pick their battles more wisely.

There are certain words of the english language that are deemed to be crude, vile, or even down right mean. And these words ought not to be used in settings of formality. However, when one is using humor to lighten up an already heated and volatile situation then all is fair.

For the same that is being said about Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, can be said about:

Harry Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George Bush(Sr. and Jr.), Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump.

And that's just the presidents, I could also name many senators and representatives that made a pun on words to lighten the mood of the crowd at the time. See we use puns to lighten the atmosphere, otherwise would you rather have two men, two women, two people, get out in the street and have a duel? Or would you rather laugh off the pun, and lighten up. In a 100 years or so, we all will be dead and none of this will matter any way.

Roger Rabbit says to Eddie, "Where's Your Sense of Humor?", well I say to all of America, especially the younger generation: "Where's your sense of humor?"
Look this is a ridiculous argument. First off, Ame... (show quote)

If meant as a pun, then it was a sarcastic poke at progressivism, and I like that. If this same guy objects to e*****rs for Biden tomorrow, I'll assume it was meant in jest.

He explained his usage. Your need to be in a constant state of outrage is your problem to deal with.

Actually, some of the MSM hailed it as a wonderful thing! The man shows his ignorance and his incompetence. Anyone who thinks that "AMEN" is any kind of g****r thing, obviously has not been into a Christian church, read any part of the New Testament, and apparently never listened to the beautiful musical rendition of the "Lord's Prayer", and probably would not know the words to say if he were to try to pray. Wow. And this man is in Congress? No wonder the country is on its last legs! It would be funny, if it were not so tragic. These are the leaders the people of this country elected!!!!!!

Amen does not refer to males, it is an English t***slation of an ancient language term for "the end". I thought these people were educated.

We here in Georgia are so embarrassed by this man for many many reasons this remark just frames his stupidity
