If only that was how e******ns were run. People v****g. Citizens. V****g. Just once. With a numbered b****t so their v**e could not be duplicated.
My v**e-by-mail b****t (in California) had a barcode on it. That must identify something (at least as well as a "number", I suppose). (The b****t also had numbers on it. I don't know what they all meant.) And I had to request it. I actually went in person a few weeks before the e******n, to pick up the b****t at a time when I didn't have to wait in line. The clerk asked for my identifying information and printed out a b****t specific to me, not just an anonymous b****t. Mail-in b****ts (in California) identify the v**er and have barcodes.
How would I have gotten a mail-in b****t if I weren't a registered v**er? Steal one from somebody's mailbox? Wouldn't they complain to the registrar when they didn't receive one? The registrar _could_ keep a list of everybody who said they didn't receive the mailed b****t. Suppose I didn't receive my mail-in b****t in the mail, because somebody else stole it from my mailbox or en route. I would request a replacement b****t. Later, the b****t counting machine _could_ (presumably) "catch" the duplicate b****t if both the thief and I v**ed under the same name. (The b****t-counting machine would read the identifying barcodes.) How often has such duplication been reported? How often has such theft been reported? Does anyone have a list of the names of people who had reported their b****t was missing -- or even a list of the people who requested duplicate b****ts? Why not submit such a list as evidence that something was going wrong that might be fraud? But all we hear from the courts has been that the Trump campaign's cases have either nothing to show as evidence or nothing consequential enough that could change the outcome of the e******n. Some of these judges are Republicans; some, like three on the U.S. Supreme Court, were even appointed by Trump himself, and even _they_ didn't find his case worthwhile -- and didn't even bother to write any dissenting opinion, if there was any.
These e******n systems are designed to catch v***r f***d. Not just that, but I mean, that's part of the design.
I'm not saying there's no v***r f***d at all. But it wouldn't be worth the trouble: one b****t stolen (_if_ counted by the b****t-counting machine) (_if_ accepted by the b****t-counting machine because the barcode is unique) equals one extra v**e for one candidate and one fewer v**es for another candidate (regarding the p**********l race itself). And the fraudster might get caught. It wouldn't be worth the risk.
If _I_ were going to steal _anything_ from anybody's mailbox, I'd want it to be worth the risk! Shall I risk jail time -- what is it, more than a year in jail if one gets caught stealing the mail -- or likely deportation if I'm an i*****l i*******t -- just so I can flip ONE V**E from Trump to Biden? Bwa-ha-hah! the criminal mastermind has flipped one v**e from Trump to Biden -- that ought to be worth, what ...?
Why have so _few_ gotten caught? "Rutgers Professor Lorraine Minnite, the nation's top v**e f***d expert, found just six verified cases of v**er impersonation over 12 years of our nation's e******ns." The quote is from page 28 of _How Trump Stole 2020_ by Greg Palast, who, himself, is an investigative reporter who has been writing best-sellers about U.S. e******ns for the past 20 years. If _he_ doesn't know what he's talking about, why haven't people made an issue of it? I mean, he's right there out in the open, publishing best-sellers about U.S. e******ns, and about what fraud exists and is consequential, and (lately) revealing which kind of fraud doesn't exist or is inconsequential. Would anyone like to point out some significant flaws in his work?
What exactly are some "v**er-fraud" perpetrators doing -- don't just say "fraud", but describe more precisely what they're doing so we can analyze the situation and see how it might work.
Why is there such a lack of concern (among many Republicans) about the far more consequential matters of v**er roll purging in wrong ways, lack of sufficient numbers of drop boxes, f**e drop boxes, and various other targeted e******n tricks, most of which are done mainly by officials, that stop hundreds of thousands of legal (repeat: legal) v**ers from v****g?
