A friend in the American consulate in Shenyang was evacuated with his family back in March.... He said it was a s**t show... No testing, masking, social distancing, or quarantining... They were just brought back and let loose....

The operative word there is "forced" because the state is everything and there is little to no individual liberty as in God-given rights.

I hear you and somewhat agree. However, are you content to let others decide for you because you don't know what to do? Failure to plan is planning to fail. I did not v**e for Trump in 2016 and was appalled when he won the nomination. I came in with a preconceived idea of who he was. It was based on media reports and I found him to be quite brash and brusque. But, I gave him a chance and I am generally happy with much of what he has done. It took some time for me to warm up to the way he acts and does things. I still cringe at much of what he says but I've come to realize that much of what he says is uncensored thinking out loud. It drives the left crazy because all they see and hear is LIES, LIES, LIES!

You are aware that Trump put into place a streamlined approval process for v*****es that he promised during the debates and that Biden discounted. He set up a distribution network through the U.S. Military Logistics Command. Big Pharma played politics by waiting until after the e******n to announce their v*****e. Actually, the v*****e was being developed in many smaller labs because Trump removed the red tape and restrictions that would have hampered their effort. They partnered with big pharma for manufacture and distribution. Trump made sure that money was available to all the invested parties involved. When I say Trump I mean his administration, not that he did this all by himself. If Biden had been President, or God forbid Hillary, I doubt there would be a v*****e this soon. It would probably be several more years before a v*****e would be on the horizon because they believe in Big Government Bureaucracy. They wouldn't have known what to do but Trump being a Businessman saw how to cut through the government red tape.

Anyway, I'm not asking you to change your mind and become a Trumpster. I'm only pointing out that two people can see things quite differently. I hope you have a great Thanksgiving. I am going out in my RV for a week to camp at the beach with a few friends. I hope the weather is good. They are allowing 25% capacity at the campground. Seems more reasonable than locking down businesses and putting everyone under house arrest (Not that I would comply with that anyway.)

Regarding the races; I went to Del Mar several times last year. I don't know much about handicapping the ponies but I still enjoy the track with friends. My parents used to live right near Los Alamitos that would have night harness racing. Never spent time at Santa Anita. But through H.S. and a few years after graduation, I lived two blocks from Hollywood Park (Now SOFI stadium for the Rams and Chargers) by Centinela Valley Hospital. I actually spent more of my time at the Forum to see concerts and an occasional Kings Hockey or Laker's Game with Jerry West. Tickets were pretty cheap before the Showtime Days with Pat Riley and Magic Johnson. in the 1980s.

Prisons are empty because of C***D. No, of course you know we have one of the highest incarceration rates of western countries. I******s don't buy car insurance nor get a driver's license (except CA which practically give them away) and criminals don't register guns.

We did have several quarantine areas, one Miramar Marine Air Station and Travis AFB on the west coast for cruise ships and air flights which had sick people on them. New York is big on contact tracing. San Diego has tried to get people who are bi-lingual because C***d hits the Latino population harder in this area and they usually have less access to quality health care. There were quarantines on the East coast as well but they weren't checking those returning from Europe as much as from Asia. All of this did start in late February.

Americans would never tolerate being sent to a "quarantine center". Cuomo and DeBlasio, and a couple of other governors, tried to make nursing homes quarantine/recovery centers, and they ended up as abattoirs. I believe the hospital ships were meant to be quarantine centers of a sort, or the city hospitals were to be for the sick and ships for those not contagious, as were centers set up in various cities. Chicago used McCormick Place. But they were never used. The s**t show, and waste of resources, was not at the federal level, IMO.

AGREED. Also, the US is really more akin to the EU than China. This type of governance is not centralized.

I wish I could have said it as well as you did. Bravo! But as I said before, the Democrats are too .... to see the writing on the wall. I'm not sure that they will when it bites them on the left hind leg.
