I lived in a hotel room in Dutch Harbor for 5 years when I worked for Unisea/Grand Aleutian.

Had a roommate most of that time. Very tight but livable.

May Nebraska come soon!🥶😉

Not all Nebraskans are terribly bright. I had a roommate from Nebraska that my friends and I convinced it was possible to get pork chops from cows. We were discussing beef cattle vs dairy cattle. She asked what dairy cattle were used for once they could not be milked anymore and we told her slaughtered for beef and pork chops. She bought it, because at graduation she asked her dad if they could get pork chops from cows in Nebraska-they did in Wisconsin, she said. He laughed and explained that we were pulling her leg-we admitted it. Fortunately, she was a really great kid, and saw the humor instead of being angry. If all Nebraskans are that nice, you are fortunate, indeed to be moving there.

Oh, when I said that I won't see any more of that kind of stupidity, I meant that I won't have to live in any more low-income residential hotels (aka, over-priced closets). I'm moving in with my brother and his wife because they have a house with an extra bedroom for me. Given my age and disability, they don't think I should be living alone anymore. I can see their point.

You are fortunate indeed to have family willing to take you in and help you. I have some physical issues as well, and if necessary, I could move in with my son and family-they would expect no pay, but that is nonsense. They are financially struggling, and I would certainly help with expenses and extras. I would no longer have to pay rent and utilities, so would be in a position to help quite a bit, I think. But husband and I can manage to take care of ourselves for now. Glad to know there is an option if it is needed. A blessing to have family!
