Edit: Oops, went back and read my initial post on the topic. I very clearly said 'No forgiveness.' That was wrong. An overstatement, a way to emphasize my foolishness as a youth. I am usually very quick to forgive, finding almost nothing, or nothing, that someone else can to harm me, though I will defend values and principles that are under attack. Of course I can forgive the misguided passions of the Southern Rebels; I had a passion for their cause until later in life and many of them who fought and died were younger than when I changed. You were right, Rose, to condemn what I said.

I didn't condemn it, just said it was wrong. I won't condemn the rebels - it was a different time and none of us know what we would have done back then.
