Why mortgage and not rent ?
There are lots of us small landlords who only have room or second unit to rent out.
We would be in dire circumstances without that money

Mortgage makes sense...
Rent not so much...
Neither one. I think we should cancel her salary and benefits.

He's not gonna answer you, hit and run, you know?

Mortgage is owned by banks... They will have their stimulus bailouts...
Rent goes to owners.. It's a source of income... Taking it away would require more government checks to be sent...
Also, homeowners have property tax to contend with, including properties they are renting out... So allowing mortgage payments to be temporarily haunted makes sense...
Just my opinion..
Han-uckus Deploracus,
you are wrong, this is not China, the mortgages and rents work differently in the U.S.A. Get informed...
Seth,
I hope you know this Chinese "bot" personally, no?

I think that he has simply lived over there long enough in a professional capacity providing a better living than a rank and file native, developed friendships with Chinese professionals and been so subject to local media that he's come to hold the views about the Beijing govt that anyone over there does -- who's never encountered any difficulty in their economic climate.
Being a native of Canada probably helps as well, since Ottawa doesn't have the same overall adversarial history with Beijing that Washington, D.C. does (the Ministry of State Security probably doesn't suspect him of spying for Canada 😁).
As for knowing C.D. personally, I do not, though he does, for the most part, express more conservative and well thought out views on most subjects (many of which I agree with), except on China, whose propaganda he evidently believes to a large extent.

Well stated... I certainly hold a different perspective now then when I first came over... Inevitable really...
The same is true for the vast majority of folk who experience a culture/nation first hand...
I would be a great spy for Canada
Get all the hockey secrets
(man Chinese suck at hockey)
I don't think I believe their propaganda any more than I believe anyone else's (although who really admits to believing propaganda in the first place...)
But when I see something that is blatantly false I do feel the need to speak up... Hop others do the same...
