I might add a little...

We seem to have a "divider-in-chief" residing in the white house. We are being divided into groups such as black-white, rich-poor, rich white men with privilege-poor or black people, EVIL businesses-good government, men-women...and any other group that can be convinced that they are victims and NEED an ever expanding government to protect them/provide them their "entitlements".

It is deliberate and appears to be having at least moderate success when you consider how much the Federal governments power has increased (individual freedoms decreased - Obamacare for example) during the Obama tenure.

Your point is well taken, There will always be division until Homeland Security rounds up the "INDIVIDUALS" (who believe the government works for us -not the other way around) and sends them to a "re-education" center..OR...
Citizens regain the personal and financial freedoms envisioned by our founders and that guaranteed by the constitution.

Any bets on which ?

Great follow up! I am praying and betting on personal and financial freedoms for the citizens! Any other outcome would be detrimental to the country and the world! The U.S. should lead from the front and not follow. However we have become an empire much too large. We have military bases all over the world. Just as Great Britain did before! If we don't pull back the reins and shrink our world police efforts, we will end as Britain did! Broke and in turmoil! At that point it will not matter which outcome prevails!

It pains me to say this but I do not think the system can be fixed from within. We have no rights anymore. I doubt the average Roman citizen knew the empire was falling.

I mostly agree whole-heartedly with your assessment and laud it! Well said!! However I don't blame the corporations. They are doing what they are paid to do, and they have not sworn to follow the Constitution, have not sworn to protect us from foreign invaders. What I am saying is that corporations would not be running the country if we put honest people into office and held their feet to the fire. If we use your scenario, that corps run the country, it is the politicians who have handed our nation over to the corps. It isn't the corporations that write the laws, institute the regulations. The POLITICIANS do that. We have no control over the corps. We supposedly employ the politicians and should be able to control them, but as they write the laws, they have themselves protected so that they CAN override any and all control by the v**ers.

Corporations didn't destroy our country. Crooked and stupid politicians have destroyed our country. Their v**ers aided and abetted them. Until EVERYONE CAN RECOGNIZE THAT, we are doomed.

Everyone has a right to the good life. All they have to do is WORK!!!!! Nobody should expect the government or rich people or anyone to just take care of them (except children). If they are past 21 years of age, they must get off their butts and take care of themselves. Why are Democrats so fond of blaming everything on people who worked hard and carved out a comfortable living. Hard working people are not responsible for the lazy shmoe down the street. This is the land of the free. Exercise your freedom and get a job.

We all seem to see that there are problems that need fixing.

We all have given answers to what is wrong & what is needed to be done.

Much has been said of the mental state of others.

I have seen very little gain in closing the gap between us.

So I ask why from people that have so much in common we stay so divided?

I'll give you something to chew on; it's totally simple, Floyd. How would YOU reconcile and "compromise" on Liberty or Force?

Floyd Brown,

If you are pushing for equal outcome regardless of effort then NOONE will have financial freedom, just everyone equal in poverty administered by the elites who run the socialist system and administer "social justice" by whim instead of "equal justice" under the law.

Financial and personal freedom means non interference by the government, let the citizens have the right to choose their destiny and which businesses succeed and which one should fail..this is done by a capitalistic free enterprise system where the citizens are free to choose, not crony capitalism like we have now where the government chooses (Solyndra, GM bailout, anyone?).

What was your point ?

floydbrown Its because as a nation of political parties they have left out the CORE VALUES in both party's and as a nation "one nation under GOD" the oath "so help me GOD" No more "prayer in the LORD JESUS CHRIST" no more "the almighty word of GOD the BIBLE" in education period. in 2Chronicles 7:14 (that's the BIBLE) if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked, ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now whether one believes this is our national problem as citizens for this was what our founding fathers came forth with as a "CONSTITUTION". Based on the ALMIGHTY WORD OF GOD THE BIBLE. WE need to get education back to basic READING, WRITING, Arithmetic and to have a discussion on prayer, Bible and GOD.

Great comment!!! I read an interesting article yesterday that stressed that if one thinks of himself as a victim, he assures his victimhood. NO ONE should see himself as a victim! He should see himself as a productive citizen - that prevents his victimhood. I totally agree with that reasoning, but our political left's RELIGION is victimhood - it's what keeps them in office. They do not want victimhood ruined by self p***e, independence, and freedom from government.

Every black that I personally know is NOT A VICTIM and doesn't pretend to be. Every black I know is a proud, independent person who relies on himself and his capabilities.

Is that what they are saying on MSNBC these days? That is soooo whacked. First, we can't all be in the top 1%. Otherwise, it would not be 1%; it would be 100%. By definition, only 1% can be in the top 1%.

But seriously, corporations did not give our manufacturing jobs to China. Economic globalization did. Until the 1960s, our economy was pretty self-contained; it was a "national" economy. Nearly everything that we consumed was made in the USA by American workers. Workers in durable goods manufacturing (cars, steel, machines, etc.) made excellent money with no college education needed. But by 1970, improved shipping changed all that. We shifted to a "world" economy. During the 1970s, cheap Japanese goods poured into the country. Japanese goods were cheaper because Japanese factories paid their workers 25 cents on the dollar compared with our factories. American factories tried to compete on price, but they were trapped in union agreements that required big pay raises every year. Business got government concessions and in some cases, union concessions, but by the end of the decade, factory jobs were in free-fall. We lost half of our high paying steel jobs between 1980 and 1983. Now, we are buying more cars than ever, but the profits and jobs are in Japan. Ford and GM are not building cars in Japan; Japanese car companies are. US Steel and Bethlehem Steel are not making steel in Japan; Japanese steel companies are. By the 1990s, the same thing happened to our technology companies. RCA and Sylvania are not making VCRs and TVs in Japan; Japanese companies are. Now everything is being made in China, because China pays lower wages than Japan. Our companies are not making this stuff if China; Chinese companies are. We will never again compete in manufacturing until global pay scales are equal. That is probably more that fifty years from now.

So lets stop blaming greedy corporations and our favorite scapegoat conservatives. Many businesses went bankrupt. The remaining businesses in the US are doing their best to survive against cheap foreign competition. The only thing that could help business get stronger and create more jobs is higher tariffs. But Democrats generally don't favor that solution because it would increases prices, and give a needed break to those "greedy" corporations.

If you want more jobs, stop bashing corporations and find ways to help them get stronger.

Excellent addition. And, to make sure that we have enough victims, we opened the flood gates along the southern border. We are allowing any and all children to come unaccompanied by adults, and putting them under permanent government care.
